Two better than one?

I might have 7 1911 guns, not identical tho. Have 2 642s, one has lock, one don't, so not identical. 3 10/22s, again not exactly identical tho.

One of the things I learned from Clint Smith was that if you have a pistol that you like and shoot well, then you should get another one. That way when the first needs service, then you have a spare to carry without compromising a thing. The logic made good sense.

I have two's or three's of almost everything------heck, I have 5 870's

I've really distilled what I like and don't like over the years---so have no problem getting another one.

I like what I like.

I have a Beretta 92FS that I love shooting. I like it so much I was thinking of getting another. Am I nuts, do any of you have duplicates of the same pistol?

Yeah, I have a thing about the Colt MK IV Series 70 guns. Think I have about a dozen of them. That includes several Gold Cup flavors so nope, I don't think you are nuts at all. Still looking for a 9mm version, I have one 38 Super with the rest all .45 ACP.

personally I hated the M9, and the 92fs is too similar for my liking but that is neither here nor there.

I am one of the guys that sees no purpose in owning exact duplicates, however similar models with different functions is ok with me. for instance I've owned several springfield XD, XDM, XDS, and XDe, but all in different calibers, and sizes. I've owned 2 1911s, both different sizes and calibers. owned 5 AR15s, all in different sizes and calibers. the list goes on and on but I think you get the gist...

your milage may vary.

I have a hard time having duplicates. I once bought a second 10/22 because it was a good deal, but never shot it so I eventually converted it to a .17 M2, and then eventually traded it. I’ve thought about a second 1911, but I don’t see the point in having to choose which 1911 I’d want to shoot any given day. I do have 2 j-frames, a 442 DAO and a 337 DA/SA, but in addition to the different actions the 337 also has the titanium cylinder. Still through, I’ll probably end up selling the 337 or trading it for something completely different because it’s too light to regularly shoot and the exposed hammer isn’t great for pocket carry.
