Two better than one?

I have a Beretta 92FS that I love shooting. I like it so much I was thinking of getting another. Am I nuts, do any of you have duplicates of the same pistol?

Thanks!

GO GET IT MAN!

I've only got 1 Beretta 92.. a FS Inox.
But I've got a pair of Turkish MKE clones (sequential serials)
1 Black Taurus 99 and a Stainless 92.. and am currently eyeballing a 2nd.
Im probably gonna pick up a pair of Taurus 809's soon.
I've got a pair of Mossberg 88's in security setup

I've got some other guns I plan on getting companions for down the road.

When I find something I like a lot of times I'll buy more then one.

Two is One, One is None.. so go get it man :D

Hey if you need more encouragement.. 1 word... Dual Wielding *kabam baby!*
Ok I guess that's two words but just think how bad ass you'll look in the mirror! John Woo eat your heart out!

I'm sort of strange. It seems that almost anything I really like, or that I rely on-I have a duplicate of. Sometimes three or more! Guns included.
3 Hi Powers, 3 1911s, 2 Star DKs, 4 Keltec P32s, 2 Keltec P11s, 2 Keltec PF9s, 2 Beretta model 20s, 2 Beretta Minxes, 2 mini revolvers.
2 of each of the following:
AR, AK, Norinco Browning copy .22 auto, m1 carbine, Mini-14, Star PD, Browning 1910.
4 variations of the Baby Browning .25.
Others.
Yep, I have duplicates.

I'll give my revolvers as example. I have Ruger SP101 and a Smith and Wesson 438. They are more complimentary than out right twins. All of my guns have heavier (steel to aluminum, bulges to standard trunnion) variants that have slightly different roles. In the example above, one can launch magnums. All of the heavier versions are more readily picked for training, to include dry fire. The lighter versions are obviously selected when weight is a concern, often meaning I plan on taking more than one with me.

What they share, the compliments of each type is ammo, and or magazines. This simplifies my logistics while allowing me to fill different roles. In the above example, I can carry 357 on the hip, 38 on the ankle and carry 38+p loaded speed strips to refill either.

Generally, if I have a double, it speaks to my really
liking to shoot that type gun. Case in point:

I like the FN High Power, but the undersized beavertail
allows the hammer to bite my hand. Only got one of those.
The 92FS fits well, shoots great, looks good, got the INOX,
and a newer one.

Never had the urge to double up on a firearm. I always figured that it would be more fun to get something different to try rather than have a second of a firearm I already owned.

That is until I got my first 'six shooter'. Yep, a single action six shooter and the first time I shot it I thought how neat it would be to have a second single action six shooter just like the one I was firing. I blame the Saturday morning TV cowboy shows.

If I carry something regularly I have two of that make and model. One I use to beat up on in classes and at the range and the other I carry after having shot my requisite amount to ensure function. Both I keep set up the same way.

As said, nothing wrong with it if that is what you want. Personally, my interest wanders around too much, so I would rather try something new than buy duplicates, even of favorites. Just a different mindset, though, I suppose.

I got the Model 96 in 40 caliber instead. It is basically the same pistol, but adds the versatility of an additional caliber. It has turned out to be my favorite Beretta AND my favorite 40 caliber. :)

About 8 yrs ago, I had a chance to buy a 2nd Sig P6 when I bought the one I still have, I could have gotten 2 for $575.00 total, but I only bought the one I have for $319.00, the extra gun & three extra mags would be nice to have these days!

Exactly. Couldn't have stated it any better. I have the same philosophy with duplicates of 6 potential carry guns.....depends upon the occasion/circumstances.

I plan on getting a 2nd PS90 for a different optics configuration setup, and maybe another 85FS (just because I really like it, and it's not that common, plus it's my carry gun). For everything else I'm good with just one.

If you have the money then go for it, but remember it's another one to clean & maintain. ;)

I decided long ago that if I liked a firearm well enough to have one then two or more would be better. Like 50 M1 Carbines, six Makarov's, 38 AR 15's, 80 Star pistols, half dozen 1911's and six Hi Powers etc. etc. (also three or four 55 Chevy's to make life interesting).
I shoot everything I have (almost) and enjoy each whether a duplicate or another version/model of the same pistol so why not have more than one?
Many of the guns once collected are being reduced as I get older and it is much easier to give away one if you have a few back ups on the shelf.
