TV Trivia: What did they carry?

Jim V: I think Sledge Hammer carried a Model 629. (It didn't look shiny enough for a nickel M-29.)

And I think Johnny Yuma carried a sawed-off shotgun.

Sgt. Saunders carried a Thompson, Lt. Hanley an M1 carbine, Kirby a BAR . . .

And Sgt. Schultz occasionally carried an M98 Mauser...or he should've.

Mike Hammer I think also carried a S&W snub nose (model 36?) on occasion in his adventures when his 1911 was unavailable. [/quote]
Alex, are you sure about that? I once read an interview with Mickey Spillane, the creator of Mike Hammer, in which he mentioned that when he sold the TV rights, the contract specified that the Hammer character had to carry a .45 just like the character in the books. Maybe you're thinking of an instance when Hammer had to disarm an opponent and use the opponent's gun? I don't think Hammer ever carried a .38 by choice.

Bonus points: Anybody remember the name Hammer gave to his .45?

Starsky carried a S&W but I am not sure about the model. I have a softair gun that looks like it, but it says it is a model 45, not 59. But I really remember that gun and really wanted one as a kid.

I've always heard that Sgt. Shultz carried a Craig rifle. Haven't had the chance to check it out though...

Bruce, I stand humbly corrected.

Ain't it a riot when someone assembles some sort of long gun out of parts (or a pistol), attaches the scope, and then proceeds to use this abomination to plug someone at vasty distance? I also despair of the Andy Sidharis T & A movies where some cutie shoots down a helicopter from moving car with a Raven. There are consolations though...

HankB; I'm pretty sure teve McQueen carried a cut-down Winchester mod. 92 44-40, but the shells in his belt were 30-30, which always gave me a laugh. A "mare's laig"( as he called it) that short in 30-30 would have had a mag. capacity of 2 at MOST!

Hunter carried (and used it alot) a M1911.
I can't remember what handguns the A-Team used, except for Smith's M1911, usually a nickeled one.
I think BA, Face, and Murdock usually just used the Mini-14s, or some propane, 1/2" bolts, and bedspring type cannon.
Those guys were MacGuyver with guns!

On CHiP's, didn't they carry S&W M19's?

Oh, and didn't Barney Miller carry a snubby .38?
I don't know if it was a Colt or Smith, or whether it was a 5 or 6 shooter.
Hmmmm, -Kframe

SGT Shultz did carry a 30-40 Craig. Other guards carried MP 38/40 machine pistols.

I think Don johnson had the only Bren 10 that was ever issued with more then one magazine :)

I remember having a Man from U.N.C.L.E. gun set when I was a kid. It came in a plastic briefcase and had the barrel extension, scope, stock and I think a suppressor. The pistol was a P38.

About Thomas Magnum's .45: Look real close to it when he slams the magazine home in the intro, or when A&E goes to a commercial. The magazine looks incredible like a .38 super, probably just a prop goof.
Also Ponch and John sh/would have carried 6" Colt (Pythons) I think. I've read where that was "the" CHP pistol in the late 70's.

Don't forget the corrugated sheet metal that they always used for a bullet proof shield.

I always thought Starsky(Paul Michael Glaser) carried a 1911. What I always wanted from that show was the candy apple red Torino with the white stripe. I sure as hell wouldn't slide across the hood on it though.

I have always laughed at the Andy Sidaris' films (probably why I have about 6 on tape). Anyone see the Tec 9 that was set up as a four barrel rocket launcher that shot the blow up doll in mid air? Or bad guys using the H and R single barrel .410 for serious work? He about used the same guns in all movies (and actresses).

Not really on topic, but remember "Airwolf"?
That was a cool show!
They had that triple barrel rocket launcher that would drop out the bottom of the chopper.
What was that actor's name?
Jean Michael something?

Josh Randall's cartridge belt held .45-70 rounds not .44-40's or .30-30's. The .45-70's looked better on film.

Trivia question for you: Why did John Wayne carry one (1) .45-70 cartreidge in or on his cartridge belt? No prize offered. :p

On CHiPs, the revolvers were 4" S&W M15s. On "Adam-12," the original revolvers were 6" S&W K-38s, later switched to 4" M15s (possibly DAO).
