TV cowboys of the 50s

It wasn't really a TV show, but I remember tuning in to a local station on saturday afternoon to get my weekly Randolf Scott fix.
They regularly showed the old western movies. Gene Autry, Tim Holt, Audey Murphy. Now them was movies!

Tony, that's right -- John Russell was the star in "Lawman." Russell was also the regulator leader gunned down in the street by Clint Eastwood at the end of "Pale Rider," which I believe was Russell's last film. Russell, incidentally, spent a lot of time during his last years doing personal appearances and speaking out for RKBA.

And, on the subject of characters not mentioned yet, let's not forget Nick Adams as Johnny Yuma, "The Rebel."

Don't forget Jock Mahonney (Sally Field's father) as Yancey Derringer.

And a question: Anybody remember who played Clay Hollister in Tombstone Territory?

Mal H:

Tombstone Territory -- 1957
Pat Conway as Sheriff Clay Hollister
Gilman Rankin as Deputy Charlie Riggs
Richard Eastham as Harris Claibourne, editor Tombstone Epitaph

The theme song, "Whistle Me Up A Memory" was composed by William M. Backer

Pat Conway died in 1981

Nah, I couldn't remember either :(, so I looked it up on the Net

Cheers

Ah ha! Thanks Bruce. I would never have remembered his name or even picked it out of a multiple choice list. I remember the show very well, but not the actor.

thanks David Roberson for the info!
by the way David Roberson sounds similar
to Dale Robertson of Wells Fargo which we have not mentioned either.

All good shows; entertaining and mostly with a message of some sort. I just can't let the thread go by, though, without mention of the later westerns: Bonanza and The Guns of Will Sonnet. I just always liked Walter Brennan.

On another note, I enjoyed F-Troop, too. Hard to believe that Wrangle Jane was only 17 when she started that show!
