Turkey hunting with a rifle?

I use my .220 Swift. I have killed several birds with it and 50gr Sierra gamekings. Seems to just go right on through without doing much damage (other than killing the bird:)).

BTW - Kraigwyo, we hunt up around your neck of the woods!:D

Illegal here in KY otherwise I'd be an avid turkey hunter. Because they're everywhere.

Hmmmmmmm....what's more sporting? Shooting a turkey at 10 yds with a shotgun or shooting a turkey at 100yds with a .17HMR?
Somebody isn't thinking straight and it's not me.

It's by far, more challenging to call a turkey in to 10 yards away and make the shot without spooking it. In my opinion thats the whole point of turkey hunting. There's no sport in stumbling upon a turkey and shooting it from 100 yards or more. Shooting turkeys with a rifle is about the same as shooting Prarie dogs. Fun, but not really a sporting venture.

I honestly don't care which is more sporting, I'd do it because it'd be fun, but in an argument on the subject there really isn't much to discuss.
