Tumbling .223 brass before or after deprimming?

Both. I tumble them to clean them, resize and decap them with spray lube, then tumble them again to get the lube off. And this is for every rifle round I load for, not just 5.56mm...

Deprime, ultrasonic clean, lube, body neck size, trim, ss tumble, anneal. Everything clean except universal decapping die. Could dirty primer pockets lead to primer loosening?

For brass I fired that did not get dirty. I wipe off with a damp cloth. Let it dry. Lube it. Size it. Then tumble it.

Barrel brass gets washed in soapy water. Rinsed off, then when it is dry I lube and size it. When done it gets wet tumbled with stainless steel pins.

I deprime mine first then wet tumble with stainless steel pins. Depriming first allow them to dry faster as the air can circulate thru the case better.
