I switched to SSTL a while back - in fact it was a poster on here named scottriqui that had a thread where I ended up sending him some obscenely tarnished .40 SW brass to experiment with that finally pushed me over the edge.
Read this thread. Look at the brass many of us sent and what it did. There is simply no possible way that vibratory tumbling would have even been in the same universe in terms of performance.
To the poster that talked about water and an electrical hazard - it's not like you are dropping a hair dryer in a bathtub. There is as much danger with the fine dust created and the electric motor on your vibratory tumbler - which is pretty much zero. Drying the brass is effortless, and the results are significantly better IMO.
I also have switched from dish soap to ArmorAll Wash-N-Wax. Leaves a very thin wax layer on the brass, much like NuFinish car polish does in a vibratory tumbler. Protects the brass from corrosion and water spots, and gives it a little lubrication.
