Tuckable inside the waist band holster.

^Having never tried a Kydex holster of any sort, I'm having trouble imagining a rigid shell pressed tight against one's waist as ever being comfortable.

You are correct that some kydex IWB holsters are not extremely comfortable IF the kydex shell is right up against your body. It does depend on whether you have an undershirt between you and the kydex. It also depends on your body type and where you carry it on your waist. If you are and out of your car a lot and you have kydex pressing into your spine, not comfy :)

The "Hybrid" holsters that mount the kydex onto leather or neoprene or other materials are hybrids :) The best of both worlds because you have the structure, safety, and retention of kydex (and cool custom patterns) and the comfort of a softer material spread over a larger area against your body.

Add me as another fan of the Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.0. As an added bonus, with the combo deal they currently have going, you can get two holsters of your choice (the second can be for another gun too) and a third shell for either of the two holsters for about the same price as one Crossbreed Super Tuck. Best deal on the planet AFAIK.

Crossbreed's are worth every penny. $70-80 just isn't very much money for something you are going to use almost everyday for years.
I bought a Old Faithful (same company as Alien) for my Bersa 380 and could never get it adjusted correctly. Also the leather was far too thick. I took them up on their money back, keep holster guarantee and was tickled to sell the unused holster for $10.

I've owned tuckable hybrid style holsters from Crossbreed, SHTF, Alien Gear, Theis, White Hate Holsters, StealthGearUSA, Aegis Armory, and I might be missing someone. The one I like the most is the Alien Gear Clock Tuck 3.0. The neoprene has been very comfy for me. The biggest issue I have is I've lost some weight in recent years and many of the leather or kydex backed holsters tend to dig in right up under my ribs on my side or they ride so high that they print like mad. I don't have that issue with the neoprene. They're also very affordable. I used Crossbreed for many years, but it was my experience (and still my opinion) that after founder Mark Craighead passed away the quality of the leather went pretty downhill and it honestly wasn't acceptable to me at that price point (I always used the horsehide).

Limnophile, Try concealedcustoms.com. They are truly comfortable and I forget I am even carrying.....may not work for a more robust person but does for me, the glitch word guys call it appendix carry but I carry mine on left for a cross draw.

I have both an aliengear 2.0 and a stealthgearusa onyx iwb holster. The AG retention is looser than the SG even after messing with different spacers for hours.

The plastic materials in between the cheap synthetic material on the AG has cracked, is noisy at times, and the barrel of the gun will eventually wear through the material and meet the neoprene backing if I keep wearing it daily. The neoprene also starts to get sticky after prolonged wear in heat and starts to feel like you have a wet cloth in your belt.

The stealthgearusa holster is way tighter in retention, holds my firearm closer to my body, is more comfortable, and even though the price is double an aliengear, the quality more than surpasses it. I could easily see myself having to replace the AG holster every 6 months with EDC due to the wear and tear of just wearing it. The SG is also vented and dissipates body heat instead of trapping it against you.

I'll be buying my other holsters for my 1911s through stealthgearusa.com going forward. Worth every penny.

I've got 3 alien gear holsters and they are ok for what I paid for them, but not great. I can't get enough retention no matter how I configure the spacers. My m-tac Minotaur is infinitely better in terms of comfort and quality.

FWIW, the 3.0 model is a big step up in quality over the 2.0. I carry for 8 hrs or so at a time and have seen no issues with the materials wearing after months of use. I don't find the neoprene sticky at all, but I do wear a shirt between me and the holster.

Ibmikey,

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, they do not currently sheathe CZs.

The idea of Kydex next to my body is not appealing. The idea of neoprene is not appealing, either, as tehnick's testimony demonstrates.

I am looking for one for my Shield too and because of this thread I am NOT SO SURE I will be ordering Alien Gear... :)

If a few bad reports kill it for you I'm not sure you'll go with any company. Even from this thread the majority of reports are positive. I do think the 3.0 is a big difference in quality from the 2.0 (almost like a different company really). And again, they're not that expensive anyway. Don't forget you've got 30 days to figure out if you like it, and if you don't you send it back for a refund. There's very little risk.

TR,

What is the difference?

My experience with neoprene is limited to chest waders, which were hot and didn't, of course, breathe.

TunnelRat, that was a poor attempt at humor, even with the smiley. I think I will actually try one from Alien Gear and Crossbreed.

The website explains it better than I. I've never felt the leather really "breathed" either. As I said above I wear an undershirt between me and the holster and don't notice the difference between the different holster materials in terms of "stickiness", just comfort and that's why I go with the neoprene. Again, even if you don't like it you just return it for a full refund minus return shipping.

There are as many holsters as there are guns and just as many opinions. Personally I like the Galco King Tuck. I have 5 of them for various guns. Very comfortable, easy access and doesn't show.
