Try again Bushnell

If it came in that shape, return that sucker right now. While I haven't bought a Bushnell Banner in a few years, yours seems to be an exception to an otherwise great scope.

If you are done with Bushnell, the Nikon Prostaff would be a great replacement.

I say this on any thread that someone posts looking for a good scope and not wanting to spend a lot of $$...

Look at Vortex. They have great scopes at great prices...I own 2 Vortex Viper's and recommend them to everyone.

Getting back to the Nikon Prostaff, through Saturday Dicks Sporting Goods has a sale on the 3-9x40 for $100 ($50 off) online or in store. I picked one up locally and am pleased with what I see. Haven't selected mounts yet but every online review I've read has rated this Nikon model very good to excellent and that's over 50 reviews.

Look into the new redfield revolution scopes. They are affordable, bright clear optics and are made by or maybe owned by leupold with the same no questions lifetime warranty. I have a 4x12 which so far has been quite good but have not had it long enough for a depandable reference.

bushnell has a lifetime warranty on all their scopes.

try calling them before you write off their products.

i bet if you tell them you received junk they will be glad to look at it for free.

I gave them a chance. The same chance I give everyone, once. Why would I waste my valuable time? I'm sure there are lots of other companys out there that will get it right the FIRST time. I'm sure after they lose enough customers, they might realize just how important quality controll is.

And for the record, I did contact them and they told me to send it back to optics planet for an exchange and they would take care of the shipping. Fortunately for me, OP dosn't charge me any shipping, which I'm sure they (Bushnell) were well aware of. And the customer service rep I spoke with barely spoke english and had a very poor attitude.

I opted for a Nikon Prostaff which I should have went with in the beginning. OP offers price matching so I got it for about $10 more than the Bushnell. I have 3 Nikon scopes currently in use and all three were great out of the box. They, unlike Bushnell, got it right the FIRST time. Lesson learned. Thanks for all the responces everyone.

A 4-12x40 on a .22lr is rediculous to start with. Far too much scope for a .22. In any case. if you're not happy, send it back. OpticsPlanet gives you 30 days.

hey, I just bought 2 of these off ebay

NEW BUSHNELL BUCKHORN 4-12X40 RIFLE GUN SCOPE 744124FC
for 50 bucks each brand new!
I hope they are good,

for 300 you could get a Vortex Diamondback 4-12x40 AO... made in philippines.

For 200 and less I don't know. I had a Simmons 22 mag and while the optics were good for the money, adjustment and overall finish were just terrible. At the time it was 60 bucks online.

thats odd ive got two 3200s one on a 300wby and one on a light o6 and a 4200 on a 264mag and theyve held up to MANY rounds. Never had a lick of problems from any of them. That been said ive had two trophys fall apart.

I see there is a suggestion to buy the Bushnell 3200. Take it from one who has owned 2 of those, "Don't!" One died in 19 shots from a 30-30, the other died after less than 200.

I think as of late, Bushnell as a whole has gone down hill. I see lots of people saying the Bushnell they bought 10 years ago is fantastic and still works great. What I dont see are lots of people saying I just bought a Bushnell and its great. Maybe a few but......

Why would a 4-12x40 not be suited for a .22lr? Ever try to light match heads at 50 and 100yds with a 4x? Good luck! Your eyes must be a lot better than mine.

Spelling and grammar count!

How about punctuation? Capitalization? :D

Sorry

I am sorry to hear you got crap! I bought my Bushnell elite used. I was extremely happy with both the CS itself and the timelyness of it all. Try it, call them.

After using various brands of scopes for hunting (never owned a Bushnell scope) I have concluded that I do not want a scope to ruin a hunt. I have had scopes fog, and become useless.

Through the years in climates from wet and sub zero in Alaska to the SW deserts I have settle on Leupold scopes. I had rather skimp on the rifle than the scope.

Regards,
Jerry

Comments like this is why I was convinced that my misfortune was a fluke; whereas, I bought the second scope. Some of the people even had theirs mounted on 50cals.

I was out $60 after all was said and done, (shipping;) $10 more than I spent on my cheap scope that continues to outlive the 3200s.

for me bushnell is the worst scope ever iv had many and they all suck if u want a good scope for your 22 try the bsa sweet 22 line
. i have one on my 17 hmr and its the best for the money

I would not give up on Bushnell. Just the bottom of the barrel stuff from them. I have an Elite 4200 that is just as good as my Weaver.

I was going to recommend a Weaver as the replacement here, but a even a Tasco World Class should be fine for a .22 LR bolt gun.

However, I wanted to add:
My Bushnell Elite 4200 left me sorely disappointed. It was absolutely not the scope all the reviews and recommendations made it out to be. You're better off with a Leupold VX-2, or other (more reputable) brand for the same cost. Even my 1986 Leupold Vari-X III blows away the Elite 4200, and it was made before Leupold went to its current lens coatings and CNC-ground lenses! :barf:
