Truck Guns in WA State

AR/AK pistols are the only "quasi-" long-guns you could legally carry in your truck loaded in the state of Washington, because when you buy one (thanks to 594) these are now explicitly registered by the state as a 'pistol'.
The first part of this statement is correct, but the second part isn't completely accurate.

Yes, you can legally carry a loaded AR/AK pistol in your vehicle here in WA if you have a CPL. But the passage of I-594 had nothing to do with whether the state considers them a pistol or not; AR and AK pistols required state pistol paperwork long before the passage of I-594.

I have talked to several different LEOs who told me that when they pull someone over and run their plates they can determine if that person has a CPL or not. Apparently some systems are different and require clicking around until you find it, but it seems that it's generally correct that it's possible.

CWP CWL same thing just depends on specific legislation cited.
Here in WA it is a CPL, not a CWP or a CWL. They specifically call it a Concealed Pistol License because it only allows the concealed carry of pistols and not other weapons. I've heard that it used to be different many years ago, but now it's specifically referred to as a CPL by the state. If you look at yours you'll see it says "Washington State Concealed Pistol License" at the top if it's the new version, or it will say "State of Washington License to carry a concealed pistol" if you have one of the older ones like I do.
