Transfer fee.

Depends entirely on where you are. I paid as little as $10 in TX, $20 in FL, and I've heard of $35-50 elsewhere. Unless you're in Tulsa or OKC, I wouldn't expect any more than $20. I generally view more than $20 as a sign that the dealer isn't actually interested in doing transfers.

It's not hard to find places that will do them for $15 around here, but probably $25-$35 is more common, especially as the surroundings become more urban. I know of a very few that will do $10 transfers, but they are either kitchen table dealers or are not conveniently located.

Gun Broker has a listing;

Replying that I have a dealer, that charges me nothing is not helping you. However, I work with one dealer that openly advertises that he charges $10.00. Not to long ago, I noticed that GunBroker provides a listing of dealers, nationally and some of those are showing their transfer prices. Not only will you get your area but other parts of the country as well. ..... ;)

Good luck and;

In SoCal, it is kind of sickening. The absolute cheapest you can find it is 40 bucks, but some of the places advertise around 65-70 or more! They know that once you find a gun that is CA compliant, pay for shipping, and all that, it will be cheaper to just buy from them 9 times out of 10. When I was in IN though, 10 bucks was the norm.

I won't pay more than $25, which is the standard in this area and Salt Lake.

Some places will do transfers for $15. Some charge as much as $50.
And, the occasional "hobby" FFL, running their 'business' out of their living room, might only charge $10.

But, most charge $25. (With a $5 or $10 fee per additional firearm/receiver.)

$25 is average.
One retailer charges $100 because in his words: "The auctions sites and internet sellers are a threat to my business"

They are free where I work. I don't agree with the policy, but it's not my store. Nothing worse than getting tied up with a free transfer when you work on commission. Especially with how backed up the FBI has been lately.

I had one here in Tx quote me 100.00 I laughed at them. Ridiculous to gouge prices like that. Obviously they don't want to do them.

it's only paper-work !!

That is pretty sad as he is only hurting you and in turn, his business. I will never do business with a dealer with this attitude. Especially a retailer. .. :mad:

Well now, under what circumstances? I know that if I buy from a dealer, at his price, there is no charge for the transfer. I also understand that some dealers do charge for the transfer, even though you bought from them. ... :mad:

I asked the dealer that only charges $10.00 regardless of where I buy the gun and he said; It's only paper work and I pick up a lot of customers this way. He's right and that is why I keep going back even though he is 40 miles away and we just including him in our day of shopping .... :)

$10 transfer

Sooner State Pawn is a local gun store in OKC with a couple of locations. They charge $10 for all transfers. They are very nice and pleasant people to deal with and much cheaper than the $35-50 that various other places in that area charge.

The going rate here is around $30.00 per transfer. My favorite LGS (small shop, great inventory) charges only $10.00. The only catch is that you must be a "Prior Customer" to receive that rate. All first-timers pay $20.00 and a cup of coffee (black, no sugar). No added fee for the NICS check.

Been $30 for years, but they just raised it to $40. Plus the $10 fee for background checks, it adds $50 to the purchase of a gun not thru him. He is the only game in town.
