Trading/Selling Tips for Dealing with LGS?

Not so much if one of the parties doesn't have enough information to make an informed decision. Those folks who paid twice market value for AR-15's after the last election because they didn't know better didn't get a fair deal. They got gouged.

WRONG again - they did not get gouged because they WILLINGLY paid what they did - if they are too stupid to do the research does NOT mean they got gouged - they walked away happy with their deal

Oneounceload, It sounds like you may be a shop owner. If so, what is your standard markup on new and used guns? I have asked around and it seems to be a question that gets avoided. I have found several pawn shop guys that will special order for $30-$40 over their cost, though. That makes me happy!

Nope, no shop owner here - former FFL a while ago, yes - but no store front. Why would anyone tell you their markup? Markup is what the market will bear, no different than a car dealership or jeweler. These guys are in business to make as much as possible on every sale they can

Sell or trade to dealer is last choice.

Shooters:

My experience has been that selling or trading a gun to a dealer gets me the least amount of $$$ for my firearm. They have too much need to make a profit on everything they take in.

The best bet is to sell via the classified to another individual. A second best choice is auction. I've sent come guns to auction and done okay.
I also have a LGS that will take them on consignment. So the order is

1. private sale
2. Auction or consignment
3. trade or sell to dealer.

Live well be safe

I disagree. They paid what they were willing to pay for something they really wanted.
