TP9SA vs Glock 17

I like gen 3. Gen 5 is still a little too new for me.

If I was in your shoes. I'd try the Gen 4. If they have one outfitted with night sights grab that one.

Nice thing about the 19 is it uses both the G17 mags and G19 mags. I CCW with a G19 mag in the gun and carry a backup G17 mag.

Then there are the happy sticks - 33rd mags. Those work too.

How’s warranty on Glock? Customer service? Hear there warranty is one year only. I hear the XD 9mm is similar to 19 and 17 aside from better safety. Also hear Springfield is lifetime warranty. I’m pretty sold on glock but lifetime warranty seems tempting.

I consider Glock to be the AK47 of handguns. I've never needed a warranty for a Glock. They just work.

I've used a warranty on 3 guns. A Mossberg 500 20gauge - trigger assembly broke off the gun. A Charles Daley semi-auto 12 gauge (Turkish) - working the action caused all the rounds to come out of the magazine tube, and a Vector Uzi - firing pin bent and gouged out the firing pin hole in the bolt causing it to cease function.

So I’m assuming glocks are low maintenance and last long time in your opinion? I hear newer models rust cause coating of original was outlawed

I'm not sure where you are "hearing" things, but much of it is inaccurate.

There is nothing "better" about the safety of an XD vs a Glock. Both require you to keep your finger off the trigger if you don't want it to fire. The Glock striker is only partially tensioned prior to pulling the trigger, whereas the XD striker is fully tensioned, meaning it is basically a single-action trigger. From a theoretical standpoint, that would make the Glock the safer system of the two.

The nitrided finish of the newer Glocks is no more prone to rust than the Tenifer (a brand name) nitrided finish on older Glocks. They are both forms of ferritic nitrocarburizing (as is Melonite, another brand name). Glock claims the nDLC finish on the Gen 5 pistols is even tougher still.
