I ran into that. I got interested in a S&W New Model No 3 and admired one that had been reblued with a polish more like Colt than Smith. A top break Python? Same color, anyhow.
But one of those "5% original finish in protected locations" collectors discouraged me, saying I could get a good original for the price. But I couldn't.
