Glock 19s or 17 are $499 in my area right now, and not that hard to find new if you shop around. A little more if you can find one with night sights, or you can have your gunsmith add them afterwards. The G26 probably close to the same.
For 6 or 700 you should be able to get a fine handgun. Maybe not a new Sig or HK, but definitely something you would bet your life on.
