To Reblue or not to reblue that is the question

Bluing offers damned little rust protection.
If you are going to have the gun refinished for rust protection, use hard chrome, nickel, or one of the nitride finishes. Even the spray paints offer more protection than bluing.

Very Decent Looking Condition to Me

The gun looks aesthetically fine to me. If it were mine, I wouldn't reblue at all. I would just maintain it at this point to protect against rusting and whatnot, but the finish looks very decent, and it does give it some character and uniqueness.

I'd leave the guns alone. If you want a shiny blue gun, just save up and buy one. Or sell the snubnose and buy one that's prettier than that.

I only buy guns with finishes that I can live with. Obviously, with antiques, I don't mind worn finish. But, I don't care for rusted, pitted, or holster-worn guns produced from 1950 forward.

For example, I'd rather have a nicely refinished early 70's Browning Hi-Power than the same year gun with worn finish and some light rusting in it. I'd actually pay more for the pretty one, if the work was done right. But, that's just me.

It's just "in fashion" right now to appreciate wear on guns. A good restoration job is more appealing to me, but it's just not "cool". Trends change, though.
