Timeless Debate, Savage vs Remington.

Rick,

Do you know anything else to do in Delphos at 3:00am? But, then again, there is always Ottawa. :)

Savage 110

It is a fine rifle, not fancy but a lifetime rifle.

You take apart a Remington rifle and you think what did you get for the money. If you want, as one of the guys said earlier, to spend for top of the line Remingtons yes they are darn nice rifles but I will never forget Savage.

That's the point though America, you don't have to take apart a Remington. It comes with a great HS Precision stock and a trigger that can be adjusted to a crisp 2.5lbs in about 10 minutes by turning a couple of screws. If you add on the cost of a good trigger and stock to the Savage then you are actually spending more for it than a Remington and you don't have a good action to work on later down the road. Just the facts and the reason I buy Remingtons. The Savavges are nice rifles aftyer you do some work to them but not as they come.

My 110 is 3.5 without an aftermarket trigger. At www.varmintsden.com under tech stuff two different people show how easy it is to reduce trigger pull down to 3# without filing, and 20ozs. with some filing....both people have pictures and very percise instructions how to do adjust the trigger.

My 110 Tactical is stock, with the exception of having a gunsmith friend of mine do a little bit of stoning on the trigger to smooth it up. It breaks right at 4 pounds without anything else being done to it. I see no reason to replace it when it shoots .75 MOA or so.

Don't try to make a silk purse out of a sows ear. They don't make top notch custom guns on Savage actions. Im not saying they are not accurate but they aren't fine pices of craftmanship either. Just move the bolt back and forth on a Savage compared to a Remington. But then again I would never buy anything named Tasco either.Start with the best finish with the best.:barf:
