Three arrests in Gun show sting

Gawd! I had no idea it was this bad, and I live in California. A Gun Owners ID card? I thought Cali was boldly leading us down the road to hell, but at least I can buy ammunition (for now) with no ID. The only limitation I have is how much I can carry :)

Danny45, I got the same experience down here in GA. Go to Wal Mart for bread, flip flops, bass worms and two boxes of .380. Gub stores waive the instant check fee if you've got a CCW. I spent the 10 minute wait scouting for the next present to myself. Once the northeast states and CA ban the private ownership of handguns, scoped bolt actions (they're sniper rifles, remember), and anything semiauto maybe the union workers and teachers who hunt will notice what their candidates have really done for them. I love the south!

Screw that. I'm going to buy a couple of manuals at the next show. I don't really have much use for a silencer, certainly not full-auto, but I'll decide that, thank you.

Yes, the FOID card is crap. Those of you who think we should "throw out some politicians" have never been to Chicago. There is no throwing out to be done. The closest I could come is assassination, and I'm not willing to do that yet. It's disgusting to have to add the word "yet" in there, I know, but that's what we've come to.

Chemistry and Physics teachers in Ill. beware you are teaching dangerous subjects that the state does not like. I learned how to make explosives in Chem I. SCARY!!!!!! Do they have hog farms up there??????

PreserveFreedom: from what I know of the Illinois law, out-of-staters can buy guns and ammo, or sell, without the FOID. It's only the state residents that have to be tattoed.
I sold a handgun to an IL resident and the cop I talked to said it was ok as long as the resident had the card. I bought some stuff, and no problem.

You see, there's a loophole here. Us cheeseheads can go down to Illinois and buy stuff without a photo ID. Algore wants to close the loophole. Simple enough, isn't it?

Ruger45, funny you bring that up. The kkk had a rally here a couple of weeks ago. I knew nothing about it and went downtown to the post office and about couldn't get there with all the roadblocks. They're not too big here anymore, rarely see or hear anything about them. The race stuff is nothing like it used to be. Tulsa is a great place to live.

JWR, there's no place like the SOUTH is there. I think Georgia is one of the few other states I'd even consider. Only because of all the deer though. AND the "peaches" :D Purty women down there.

Back to the topic, I find it incredible that things like this can really take place. Of course, most of us that live in Oklahoma, or places like Georgia and Texas, don't ever deal with crap like that. I think our politicians are either very very smart, OR, they're scared to death of us. EITHER WAY!!!! :D

Was the gun show any good? The last three I have gone to here have been so poor I didn't even consider going to this one. Did I miss some good stuff? Jerry

It wasn't bad. I got two 10-round factory mags for my Glock 22 for $15 each. I also got a Factory box for my MKII with the original padlock for $5. :)

I found a Preban Colt AR for 975 a couple shows ago there. You have to realize though this is a failure for Daley! They were so sure that guns were being sold in droves illegaly at this show (which so happens to be the largest in the state) that for them to find two guys that screwed up selling ammo to IL residents without showing a FOID is like nothing. They wanted illegal sales so they could hit the airwaves with it but to find only two out of hundreds of dealers and all they sold is a few bullets, seems like a slap in the face for the Anti-gun politicians of the state.

I live in the area and the grayslake gunshow has been picked on for quite awhile now. And as for FOID cards they have been around for atleast 15-20 years and to get one you need a photo ( and not just any photo ) and a noterary (sp) signature and $5.00 processing fee. Awhile back when you sent all this in for processing you were lucky to get it back in under 6 months. Now they sped it up to less then 3 months and you still need the 3 day waiting period for handguns and 24 for long guns. Gun shops won't even allow you to touch a firearm without the FOID. And you know what really funny is if you goto the DMV and show two forms of ID the Government doesn't accept FOID cards as vaild forms of ID. But is needed to Buy, Own ,Sell or touch all firearms & Ammo. Illinois also leads the Nation in most citys that prohibit the ownership of handguns

I was in the Socialist REpublic of Illinois at Chanute AFB. At 19 years old, active duty military, Opfor and weapons courier, I HAD TO HAVE PARENTAL APPROVAL to get the FOID card, as I was under 21.

Here's my question: does that mean a 19 year old who's parents are deceased cannot own a gun? is he considered an "emancipated minor"? (think about how stupid THAT sounds in that context).

Out of state residents from adjoining states and Michigan can buy ammo and long guns without one. All dealers must see it. Note that they picked on out of state dealers. And the prohibition on the books was supported by the show as a "compromise." See what compromise gets you?

I sell cutlery, did 3 shows there, won;'t do another. Bunch of cheap b@$tards.

Scene: Traffic jam on park-like road. Demonstration on road bridge over creek.

Jake: What's going on?
Cop: Ahh. Those bums won their court case and they're marching today.
Jake: What bums?
Cop: The friggin' Nazi Party.
Jake: (shaking head) Illinois Nazis...
Jake: (to Elwood) I hate Illinois Nazis!

Vrrrooooom!

I only hope we can do the same thing to Algore and the rest of Klinton's minions in a couple weeks! :D
