I looked at used for some time and ending up buying new. Right after I did KTP had a used 44 mag barrel for sale which included a nice 2x scope at a good price.You may be better off buying a frame and then the combo you want. Sometimes you can scoop up a barrel with a base and rings attached. Doesn't seem like much but the little things add up.

Mike Bellm did a trigger job on my Contender for silhouette work. You don't send him the frame, just the trigger group.
My trigger now breaks at 12 ounces with no creep or OT. Turnaround was fast and price very reasonable. Well worth it!
