This makes me ill....

Westboro Church

Yeah, someone will probably say even the link is offensive but, hey, that IS the link. Can't do anything about it[edit: well, yes I can...duh...]. Anyway, that's all the creation of Fred Phelps and Fred ain't Christian, nor is he a conservative(lifelong Dem) and he sure ain't no Baptist. He's just nutty as a fruitbat. Anyway, if you can stand to look thru the site some of it is almost like a caricature. You almost wonder if they are actually for real, they're so far over the edge...

Couldn't even watch the whole thing--it's too disgusting and it's too early in the day for me to get that fired up already. Maybe this afternoon... I'm all for rights of free speech, congregation, etc. and technically they have it as much as the rest of us... But I think there ought to be a right to slap the $**t out of people that want to lash out at the very people who protect those rights. Lets drop them in Iran with their "high 'n mighty" religious nonsense. That's a reality show I'd watch. All fanatics are alike no matter what side of the fence their particular view falls on.

Can't we just declare them as civil terrorists and hang them for treason during war time? Or maybe start issuing licenses to hunt fanatics---unlimited bag limit. I could get into that.

Hannity and Colmes are fools to begin with, they're just good at finding people nuttier than they are. This is just another facet of christianity; different interpretation. I wonder how unconstitutional that law really is...it is freedom of speech, after all.

Freedom of Speech???

There is speaking freely, and then there is actively and purposfully disrupting the lives of others. They are two completely different things. Honestly, it won't surprise me when one of these little "protests" causes a full-blown riot--and I hope these fanatics get the living hell beat out of them for it. I can respect a person who says what they think--whether I agree of not. But if someone wants to cram what they think down my throat while I'm trying to bury a loved one killed in action, then I put that person in the same catagory as the people we're fighting against---a religious fanatic with a warped view of reality and a menise to society in general. Because in their own twisted little minds, their way is the ONLY way. So lets talk about freedom from that perspective---even freedom of THOUGHT doesn't exist in that realm.

EDIT>> My father in-law sent this link to me a while back. It goes along with it. My bike and my time are available to the Patriot Guard in a heartbeat.

Disturbing

Anyone who saw this thread needs to look back on some people who actually block these protesters (really good folks) and block these nut jobs from protesting the funerals(it was in a prior thread, I tried to link but I couldnt find it). Really this is completely unbelievable, These brainwashed cult fanatics need to have the $hi* beat out of them, not to even knock some sense in them just to have a good ass whooping and learn what the REAL world is like. This lady is no better than the terrorists that hate America. :barf:  UnFreakinBelievable

TexiCali

The link in that thread seems to be having issues---But I have one direct to a news story video in my post right above yours.

Emotional pathology meets religous fascism

This so-called "woman of God" and her so-called "church" freely admit to hating Catholics, Jews, homosexuals, 9-11 victims and soldiers, as well as America itself. Her co-called "church" is not a Baptist church; it is The Church of Hate.

In her view, any person or group of persons who do not think and act as she does is sub-human and worthy of extermination. This is the way Hitler's Nazi regieme thought of Jews. This woman and her so-called "church" are no different from Hitler's Nazi party.

I have never seen a more clear cut and undeniable example of hate speech. These people are no different from the radical Islamists who would either force all to submit to Islam or kill them.

What diseased minds these people have.

w00t for godwin

but don't forget that some people would lump all muslims with the fanatics just as they'd lump all christians with this kooky lady. both religions are equally open to that kind of zealotry

Seriously, Religion is a wonderful thing...:barf:

I don't think it is a violation of free speach to say that they can't do this outside of funerals is it? I agree that this is probably the sickest, most perverse use of our freedoms imaginable, but I am still concerned about protecting those rights. What measures should be taken against this that would NOT violate the right to free speach. One idea i had would be to donate money to get a lawyer to file suit against her on behalf of the families for mental anguish. It might not hold up in court, but as we've seen in the gun-industry, a few lawsuits here and there can be a very damaging thing. If people had to think about the consequences (to themselves) before doing things like this, then perhaps it wouldn't happen as much. You don't see people burning crosses as much now because it would be a hate crime, so if actions like this could get you bankrupt, maybe the (mumblemumble) "Christians" would think twice before doing this to people. That would be an effective end to this without violating the rights we love.

Any thoughts...

To be honest, I'm a little predjudeced against ALL religion. I try not to be, I know its not right. But things like this always bring that out in me.

That's a great idea - and I wouldn't be so sure it wouldn't stand up in court. It all depends on where the suit would be filed.

If protestors can be coralled and kept away from Presidential appearances, there's no reason these religious fascists cannot be kept away from military funerals - in fact, the families of dead soldiers have more of a right to bury their dead in peace than a President has to not hear protestors, IMO.

Christian? I don't think so!

I am unfortunately familiar with this particular bunch of kooks as they have visited my town on several occasions. They twist and pervert the scriptures to justify their own anti-American agenda. It is a HUUUUUGGGE stretch from stating that the Bible condemns homosexuality to carrying the anti-American signs these idiots carry. I have however been witness to one satisfying visit they made to another town, the police had to escort them out of town to prevent a lynching. This is a small, largely Christian community and they essentially ran these folks out of town.

If others hold these people up as the standard of Christianity, Christians in general will unfortunately become widely despised in America and elsewhere. I think these people should be charged with treason and deported to some country whose morals they can support.

This has literally nothing to do with Christianity and if you'd read the Wikipedia link I gave you'd see just how true that is. Freddy himself doesn't seem to have any religious belief anymore. Trying to link these freaks to any real aspect of Christianity as examples of why we should not "generalize" about the literal application of the Koran is at the very least dishonest.

Sorry, these are not christians.

Their bitter John Kerry supporters trying to pull yet another fast one, and try to make you mad at the same time.

nicotene that is not true religion so to be against it .It seems to me they picked one thing from the bible and that is that evil people will hate you for being a believer in GOD and made it their mission to get as many people to hate them as possible that way they can believe all others are evil and they are doing GODS will. They are in a manner of speaking being brained washed. Please dont confuse this way of being as religious people ,they are in actuality the beginning of a cult.

This is indeed one of the sickest things I have seen in a long time. It truely does make me want to vomit. Not to mention makes me mad enough to well...never mind...

It SHOULD be a crime to disrupt a funeral. As far as I know, it IS a crime to cut into a funeral procession in traffic, and you can be ticketed for it. Free speech is one thing, but I also have the freedom not to HEAR IT at a loved ones funeral. I can guarantee you if that were one of my loved ones funerals, there would be trips to the hospital and jail respectively.

Yes, we have free speech. But there was a time not so long ago when common decency and RESPECT kept people from shooting their mouth off about certain things. Its not that you don't have the RIGHT to say it, but that you don't have the good sense NOT TO SAY IT that is the core problem here.

Freedom to me has always been a sort of grey area, its hard to explain. I have fought for it, and will again, but I still believe that some things should just NOT BE ALLOWED, or at least punishable.

Is there such a thing as too much freedom? When too much freedom, like too much power, eventually causes corruption.......
