This is frightening!: Cash tax or devaluation

Sounds like a great idea to me. That'll teach all you rich folks not to carry huge bundles of dollars and hoard 'em and gloat!
You'll have to spend 'em like the rest of us...
Teach all of us that fiat $$ are worth exactly as much as the government says.

And give a great boost to the underground economy, as well as the reasons for its existence.

Oatka, good post! Seems there are many here who can see through the tax scam of a fiat currency. The Fed deserves its share of moral outrage, but my personal candidate for the Darth Vader Award in Economics goes to the IMF for consistently using our tax dollars to destroy the potential economies of poorer countries while making a few insiders extremely rich in the option markets. Almost every wave of poor immigrants who arrive at our borders come in the bloody wake of this evil monetary force. Even the relatively recent turmoil in the Balkans can be traced to IMF prescriptions for human disaster.
 
F'ing feds want all money in the bank, so they can KNOW who has how much, and TAKE it on a whim via electronic transfer if they think you owe them money. They hate cash for the corollary reasons.
