I've seen a few different sites offering Marlin 1895GBLs for under $600. Haven't seen any in person. Have you? How are they looking? Whats the wood look like and fit? Are they new old stock from the bad years?
I looked at one at wal mart today. Seemed pretty nice to me. All the fit and finish looked really good. Of course i couldnt cycle the action like i wanted to because they always have them clamped shut. The wood looked better than the 336W it sat next to. I think the price was 595.
Im pretty confident Marlin has worked out the mechanical ghosts of the past few years. Im just curious what type of fit and finish im going to get on a $600 1895 if I bought it sight unseen from the interweb.
I have a 1894 Remlin 44 mag and it pretty nice, wood nice too all edges are clean and tight, checkering good also. Not a 900 buck rig but pretty nice.A friend has the 95 and the quality are very close,
A week ago I purchased a 22" 1895 from Cabela's for $550 brand new (they were having a sale). Fit and finish is very good. Shot it last week and it cycles smoothly. The checkering certainly doesn't look like hand checkered, but for $550 I'm perfectly happy (as it's a shooter, not a safe queen).
Ga gun store had a few. Dasonville Gun room more than a few. All in sub 600.00 range. Country folks superstore in Cumming can ord fora you but around 640. Sorry. All in Ga.
