The Worst State (or City)

What is the worst state for gun owners? Be specific. Now's your chance to rant about stupid laws or trouble you've had.

From what I've read it sounds like DC is the most gun unfriendly followed by Chicago, San Francisco, and NYC.

New Jersey sounds like the worst on the paperwork.

Things are great here in Georgia but tell me why your state's laws suck!

Well, my state's laws DON'T suck, but then again you knew that, since it is one and the same! My only real experience -- and that is mostly second hand -- with negative states has been Illinois, where my sister and her brood live, if you want to call that living. That place is bad, but I understand that it isn't quite the worst.

I avoid blue-state hellholes of the sort that tend to be anti-gun, and try to keep myself limited to sane red-states and areas. I don't even like to visit blue states if I can help it.

My state, I don't like having to conceal it if I don't want to and be punished by law it the gun is exposed.

Really....I don't like having to have a license to excercise my right to keep and bear arms.

But, I would say probably New York City, Washington DC and the People's Republic of Kalifornia would be the worse on gun owners (and incidentally, they have the highest crime rates in the country)

As I see it, the most freedom-hating state in the union is...drum roll...NJ:barf:
Just a few points:
1) Ban on assault weapons:eek:
2) Permit required to own any firearm manufactured after 1898 (don`t know about muzzleloaders though)
3) Act of Congress required to obtain a CCW
4) Handgun purchase permits require 2 personal references (ya think the applicant was applying for a job)

Possibly Massacheeseuts could be tied with Joisey but really who would want to live in those socialist paradises???

Curiosity yields evolution...satiety yields extinction.

Oregon is very gun friendly considering were just above California.

Oregon seems very gun friendly, considering when you buy a gun here, you have to wait like 10 min for a background check on the phone.

I'm surprised because were so close to California. I'm surprised there so tough on guns with the terminator as Governor.

Nah -- doesn't surprise me at all. As long as the lefties have control of their state legislature, there isn't going to be any progress made there, even if they do have a governor like the governator. And I'm not so sure that he's all that 2A friendly himself. Nah, too many fruits, nuts and flakes there in the Granola State for any true progress towards freedom. I pity them poor folks who live in the interior red counties who are always getting jerked around by them coastal lefties.

You forgot Ohio

Here in the Buckeye state our law makers let individual cities make up their on laws which put a hindrance on us. Like Toledo, Columbus and Cincinnati. Criminals don't have problem ignoring the law because the judicial system doesn't order the mandatory sentence they're supposed to.

I've lived in Texas since 1975. No problems here EXCEPT..
I don't like to have to pay and get a license to carry a gun.Amendment violations?
AND I don't like the idea of having to carry concealed.
Heck, Texas is famous for gunslingers of the old west. No you gotta hide em' so you don't frighten some anti gunner.....go figger?

Speaking from experience, Illinois does SUCK!:barf:

Go Illini!!

Go Bears!!

Go Sox!!

Go Bulls!!

And yes, even go Cubs!!

We have a hockey team??

Other than that, Illinois SUCKS!! Our Govenor baby balago is the true definition of BUTT SMURF!!

Ummm, is that suposed to be hyphenated?

New York City

Just look at the mayor who attempts to spread his gun control throughout the country. Not to mention the fact that the city is so "special" that they don't even recoginize carry permits from their own state.

I vote Daton,Toledo, Columbus and Cincinnati in Ohio and for the dumbest law I would have to vote the ohio law that says a gun that can hold more than 31 rounds is an "automatic firearms" and must be registered under the NFA, but its legal to buy mags that hold more than 31 rounds as long as its not loaded up and put in a gun. what sense does that make? and dont get me started on the "assault wepons" ban in Columbus short defanition: The new Columbus proposal defines an assault weapon as a semiautomatic rifle with a detachable magazine with any of these five components: a protruding pistol grip, a grip for the nonshooting hand, a thumbhole stock, a shroud covering a hot barrel and a muzzle brake to reduce recoil. :barf: :barf: :barf:

I cant remember how many were turned in but it was only a few.

Roger that about having to pay for a license to carry -- that chaps me as well, here in Ga. The Ga laws pertaining to such are a little bit stricter than Tx, but then again we don't have to pass any kind of stupid test, so I guess it evens out.

Same thing about open carry here -- no open carry unless you are hunting.

We do have this really stupid law here that forbids CCW any place that serves alcohol, period. No 51% rule which at least makes some sense. It means that you can't carry in just about any sort of decent restaurant, since all of them serve drinks as well. :barf: My pet peeve here. I mean, I don't even drink at all -- doctor's orders because of my cardio meds, but I'm at risk for getting mugged in the parking lot...

If you go to the Brady Campaign web sight you will find that they have a detailed rating of each State's gun laws. Those states that are most hostile to liberty are given the highest ratings while those states that are more respectful of our natural rights are given the lowest ratings.

I regret to report that Texas is only rated at D- instead of an F, but I must think that this is accurate as Texas gun laws are overly restrictive. States like Californian and Massachusetts receive an A- and should be avoided by any man who is unable to endure the shame of submitting to a condition of tyranny.

Peoples Republik of Kalifornia

Lets see... Here is some recent activity to go with the already established nonsense.

Microstamping of bullets, cartridge's and receivers is back for the fourth time. I guess they will keep on trying till they get it.

Arnold the Terminator terminated our right to buy any .50 BMG rifles here.

You have to register and sign for gunpowder if you reload. It's dangerous, you know! So is gasoline. Maybe we should sign for that too. It also puts us on record as being a reloader, if(when)they decide to pass more stupid laws.

A recent lawsuit was filed to eliminate any bullets with lead in them. They claim it is hurting our condors. Imagine the cost when you have to load or buy bismuth or full copper rounds. A .22 alone would be cost prohibitive.

When the AWB expired for the rest of the nation, it did not expire for us. We had no reason to celebrate with the rest of you. Too bad, so sad.

Ten round magazines.

"Safety" testing for pistols. Can't get that here! This eliminates all surplus pistols that havn't been tested and all pistols from manufacturers who don't want to comply or are simply late in their submission. Any change, no matter how small, makes it subject to re-testing. (Grip Color? Naaa, too outlandish, even for us.)

Our AR's have to be top breaks. No magazines. How lame.

CCW? Forget it, in most areas, unless you are connected.

How about laws that make you a criminal, just by going to the range? If you drive a truck, there is no separate, locked area to separate your firearms from your ammo. You are in violation.

The list goes on. How about San Francisco's attempt to disarm its residents. That failed, thanks to the NRA.

And the saddest part is, we let this happen. Actually, most of this is welcomed by the residents of this state who are more than willing to give up their freedom for some imagined safety.

All of the states who border us should be forewarned. Don't let the influx of Kalifornians ruin your state. Look to Clark county, Nevada! Beware Oregon, Idaho and Arizona. If enough of these people move there, it can happen to you, too.

Well, they are coming to lead me back to my cell. Be vigilant, and thank you for your time.

B=
C=
D=
F= Free

oh shoot cant remember what the rest where

I still vote Washington, DC.

No private handgun licenses have been issued since the requirement for them went into effect. Not a single one. Not even for the 'favored'.
Long arms must be disassembled and rendered inoperative.
No CCW for anyone.

Even the possesion of ammunition is restricted.
