Local WalMart had everything but .380 ACP and 22LR yesterday at lunch time. I was shocked to see 50 round boxes of Federal 9mm at the regular price as well as loads of 7.62x39 Tula for $4.99 per 20.

Shotgun shells galore even as dove season is off and running.

Looks like the Gander Mountains around me only got 5-10 boxes of 9mm today. It was 14.99 for 50 Fiocchi FMJ

TONS of 40 and 45(Blazer, WWB, Speer Lawman), but at an average of $30/50.

Well I was able to get some powder at Graf & Sons in St. Charles, MO. I don't know what all they have, but I was able to get 2 lb of Accurate 7 to get me going. They also had a decent supply of primers and good supply of bullets. Nice little store, for sure.

Based off of recent legislation here in Texas and what happened in Colorado (read here: http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=532468) it seems that all this hoarding and massive panic buying should ease up soon. Clearly it began because everyone thought we were going to get some much stricter gun control measures adopted. It seems that the opposite has occurred. So in my way of wishful thinking, now that the climate has changed, maybe so will this current shortage. I just hope that the manufacturers can begin to catch up with all the new shooters coming aboard. They (hell, everyone) need .22lr!

Happened to be at the Wal-Mart yesterday and they had 8 boxes (550 round bonus pack) of Federal .22 lr for 23.97 - I got two and the other six were gone before the sales guy could lock the cabinet back up..

"Powder Valley" changes name to "Valley"

"Powder Valley" changes name to "Valley"
No, not really. But maybe they should. I have not seen ANY changes to there powders in stock. Another monthly Nil.

Stopped by Wal-Mart in Little Rock over the weekend. Probably forty or fifty 50-rd boxes of TulAmmo BrassMax @ $13.97 per box. Some .40 and .45, plus plenty of shotgun shells. No .22LR, .38Spl or .357 Mag, though.

Lucked out before a hunt 2 weekends ago, and my buddy bough 2000 rounds of .22 to split among friends. I bought 500 from him. 40 bucks for the winchester super-x plastic box hollow points. Espanola WalMart.

My Walmart got in some CCI today after a LONG time (9 months?). I stopped twice and picked up 150 rounds (3 boxes) of Stingers and 1 box (100 rounds) of Mini-Mags. Prices were good at $6.47 and $7.47, respectively, about half of what the thieves (make that entrepreneurs ;)) on Gunbroker are getting.

Sportsmans at Loveland

Has some bullets in stock that have been out for several months. Guy at the counter said they are slowly getting stuff in. The light may be at the end of the proverbial tunnel.

Walmart had everything when I went there today except for 308. They even had some 223 and 22. This isn't the first time either. They've been steadily growing more consistent over the last month or so with their ammo supply. I don't buy every time I see it, and when I do buy, I don't get as much as I could.

What do the real estate agents always say

Location, location, location. I would love to run down to the local Walmart to get some of the ammo mentioned......what state and city?

I was worried that the recent Navy yard shooting would spark another round of hoarding, etc. Any indications that this is happening?

Maybe the success at beating back some gun control measures (e.g. recalling reps in CO, etc.) will mitigate that this time. Sure hope so.

Ammo shortage? What shortage? I have 3 "magic machines" on my workbench that produce a loaded cartridge every time I pull the handles. Unfortunately the magic machines never spit out .22LR :(

I have enough .22LR for my pistol to last me years. I hoarded .22 pistol ammo in 2008. I think I bought around 3,000 rounds working at a gun shop. Dealer cost + 10% + tax. I still have 1,500 rounds for my P-4. But ammo for my game rifle is getting short. It has a match chamber and is very picky when it comes to running hunting loads through it. I am not going to pay $15 to $18 for match ammo for it when I can load .22 Hornet for less. Glad I bought the Hornet and stockpiled Hornet supplies back in 2009. I shoot 50 grainers through my Hornet and my AR. If you are talking to a bunch of varmit hunters and AR guys and you mention 50 grain bullets they all grimace or scatter like roaches. Both groups hate 50 grain bullets but I love them. Easy to get during the last and current crunches.

3rd gen shooting supplies as of Friday had TONS of Winchester SR, SP, LR, LP primers. They also had plenty of powder in stock as well.

And to the guy who posted the Walmart gun pics. THEY SELL ARs at Walmart?!? How cool is that?!?

Ammo shortage? What shortage?
My thoughts exactly. My wife and I were out checking ammo prices and my wife noticed a 1000rd case, (that's right, a 1000rd case!), of 9mm for $249.99! That's about $12.50/50rds!

My first thought was, there has to be a reason for the low price because they were selling ammo cans of 5.56x45 for $525/900. I see .223 and 5.56 just a about everywhere but not 9mm. Sensing my interest, my wife asked the clerk about them. They were Remington 115gr FMJ. Plus, the store was running a 10% off sale on ALL ammo! That brought the case down to $225 or $11.25/50. I kid you not, my wife looks at me and says, "go ahead and get them."

I about passed out because earlier that day, my wife was giving me a hard time for buying a box of 12 gauge for $5.49/25 and a box of 16 gauge for $7.19/25.

I'd have to say it was a good day. :D
