The ULTIMATE Carry Revolver!

You do realize,,,

...preferring the weight that will make it reasonable to shoot more than one shot between wrist recoveries.

^^^ What he said ^^^

That gun will kill at both ends!

I do hope you like and enjoy it,,,
But "ultimate" it is not. :o

his gun is ported, that takes a lot of the beast out of a gun from the shooter's perspective.

Me? I'd never carry any Taurus for self-protection

Okay, but my older Taurus 441 is a fine gun and pleases me greatly. There is nothing wrong with it, and there are no other players in a similar platform. Perhaps you were thinking current production.

After trying a gaggle of snubs the 442 and the LCR357 are my most carried. The J Frame is perfect in all my pockets and the LCR357 is AIWB. When I carry my SP101 it is AIWB and the LCR is in the pocket.

I have to agree, its still a Taurus. I will stick with my S&W 296 44spl or S&W 627 8 shot 357 UDR. I love the 45C but not in this package, my Taurus 38spl's (two TI models) did not hold up well and stripped out the crane screw in both, one after another so I pass on all Taurus guns now, even my Taurus 9mm steel version locked up and failed (internal failure, they kept it and sent me a replacement) and I sold it.

Steve
I think I have a slightly better platform. The stainless steel Taurus 45 acp 5 shot with moon clips. They only made them a few years. This controls the recoil enough that I easliy shoot 25 rounds (5 moon clips) before I say where did I put the 22.

In 45acp the SS revolver is less than a 4" duty revolver and carries easily. Not as light as a Titanium, but enough to help with recoil control.

If you like the custom shop I would consider using them for an action job and bobbing the hammer.

I have the Taurus 455 (45 acp with the stellar clips) Tracker with a 6 inch ported barrel. Crazy accurate, every once in a while I think about having it chopped down to a 2.5 or 3 inch barrel. It would make a get carry gun.

I think I'll stick with my S&W 042 in .38 Special.

Smaller given the smaller cartridge, but with modern ammo that expands, still formidable.

I do like the idea of a big bore snubby -- .44 Special, .45 ACP, .45 Long Colt

Lot of appeal, but with a bigger cartridge you get a bigger gun, and since I pocket carry... No longer quite as appealing to me.

I totally agree - EXCEPT why oh why isn't it a 3" - or 2.5" ?? .... so close. Is this is discontinued or current model?

I'd rather have a new Taurus than a new S&W. But I'd rather have an old Colt or old S&W than either.

I would add that it had to be hammerless....for me anyway

No problemo - see user name.

I'd really like to find a used 4" Tracker in .45 colt (no Judge nonsense) - then I could cut the last inch (porting expansion chamber) off and have a 3" .45 colt. They didn't make too many of those, unfortunately. Taurus, please make some, and while you're at it, a 16" Circuit Judge in .45 colt - not the .410 shotshell one - just .45 colt.

As an old shooter with a ton of respect for the 45 Colt, I appreciate the 450 as a unique package unavailable anywhere else. I'll find one eventually and rebuild it myself, if that's what it takes to get it running right.

Too large and heavy for a pocket piece so it's just another under rounded IWB or OWB. May as well carry an XDs.

My choice is S&w M&P 340 in .357. 13.3 oz XS Dot sight with CT Laser grip in a pocket holster.

Cool project gun though.

Verrrrry nice revolver & a timeless, effective caliber.
My only Taurus firearms in a 5 shot s.s. .41 magnum caliber.
It has a factory ported barrel & adjustable sights.
I haven't fooled with handloads much but have brewed up some
loads using Speer Gold Dots & they blow snot out of water jugs,
exploding them with great authority.
(please no gun fight with water jugs jokes)
Accuracy at 25 yards from a bench leaves a bit to be desired but I feel
I can get better accuracy with handloads.
I'd love to have another revolver in .45 Colt.

For the record this isn't a big heavy gun. It's 19oz.

The only thing keeping it from pocket carry is the hammer and the sticky grips. I may end up making my own wood grips and bobbing the hammer. Then it will be perfect.

As for the speedloaders. I have two HKS speedloaders for the .44. They work perfectly with .45 Colt cartridges.

I just weighed 5 rounds of 45 Colt XTP and got 4.3 oz. Unless you were weighing the loaded gun, the pocket weight is more like 23+ oz.

I would love to experience a gun like yours, but the current auction prices are a bit too passionate for me.

I have Lee moulds for bullet weights from 165 grain to 320 grain.

If the bullets were too heavy I could always cast some lighter ones. But for me, not a problem.
