The ULTIMATE Carry Revolver!

So, what makes a revolver the ULTIMATE carry piece?

Well you have to start with the greatest caliber known to man, the .45 Colt!

It's low pressure and big bore. A proven cart for many years.

Next you need the perfect size, a five shot wheel gun makes it easily hidden.

Then you need modern light weight materials like Titanium to ensure you'll keep it on your person all day long.

I present to you my new Taurus 450Ti!

I bought it used on Gunbroker. The barrel needed a good scrubbin to get the junk out. The trigger is wide and flat and has a very smooth pull with a clean break. It's much lighter than a stock J frame.

So far I've only changed the grips, but I plan on doing some super secret stuff to it to make it even better, as if that were possible right?

The round you see is a custom bullet from my NOE bullet mould. It's 230grain and is powder coated. I used 99.9% pure lead to make it. It sits on a max charge of HS6 in Starline brass with a Winchester primer.

SSS, I cast some pretty soft .45 HPs a while back and shot one into jugs of water out of 4.75" bbl. The HP kind of buckled inward with no real expansion...I'm guessing 800fps. Have you done any testing on your loads?

My plan is to send it to Aimpro Tactical where they do custom Taurus revolvers.

I already asked about a bob job so that's in the works.

I have tested this design with a harder alloy and got some expansion but not as much as I wanted.

The pure lead I got from rotometals. It's so soft you can deform them by dropping them. Even my seating die leaves a little depression on them.

I just picked it up today so I'll have to test the rounds out of this gun. If they don't perform the way I want I've got a few Lee moulds that have a massive meplat. No matter what, I'm guaranteed at least a .45" hole.

I've got one and they are a ship kicker!!.. Only problem I ever had with mine is it ends to pull poorly crimped bullets as in cowboy rounds. I mainly use silver tips. if you can find one they go high priced.

I always thought the 450 (or the same package in 45 ACP) was an excellent idea. Dang shame they discontinued them.

I keep hoping S&W would make a 5 shot .45 in their L frame. They gave me hope with the new .44. But we'll see.

I didn't get to shoot it today but most of the time I'm shooting handloads. I've got XTP's and Flex tip bulles in addition to all my bullet moulds. I'll try to remember heavy crimps.

I've got a Smith 696 and (I think) 296. The .44 that looks like a flare gun and is made of aluminum and titanium.

If you ever look at the forcing cones on those, I don't think the can bore it out to .45. .44 (.43) is the absolute limit.

Then again, they are making a .44 Magnum L frame with the new sleeves barrel....

Not ultimate - it's still a Taurus.

Sticking pins in kids balloons is not nice. The counterpoint is debatable, because Taurus is the only player. The gun is a great formula that is neglected. Personally, I am thinking .44 Special in my personal dream carry and preferring the weight that will make it reasonable to shoot more than one shot between wrist recoveries.

Looks great, and while Taurus styling has never been my favorite (blocky and...unfinished look about them), your revolver definitely is a WINNER!!

Size on that? Roughly equivalent to a K-frame snub? I know with Taurus' .38 snubs, most any accessory for a J-frame will work (excerpt grips). Just wondering about this.

Also kind of want to know how good these people are. Not that my 605 really needs anything.

Its a Taurus Compact ..roughly a K Frame ..just OAL is a bit shorter..

It takes Taurus Tracker Grips ..they slip on similar to Dan Wesson Grips..

I sold one about a year ago. Mine was ported and fun to shoot.

I would suggest keeping the velocity of the ammo you shoot under 900 fps.
