the truth

Truth cannot be discounted because we do not respect the source. Look for truth from all the ends of the earth and from all of even the darkest of places and people.

-- Aristotle

You can call us whatever you want, nogod. The truth remains, no matter what names or innuendos you please to use. You chose an odd title for your thread. If you would have been present at the Constitutional debates, you would know what the founders' intent was regarding the Second Amendment, and how much it has been bastardized since then.

Waste of time ...

nogod appears to have spent enough time to read the amendment. I'd wager that is about the limit if his / her investment. It is a waste of time to simply debate the semantics - the context and history of the RKBA are even more pertinent.

nogod, try reading 'That Every Man Be Armed' by Halbrook - this subject was even debated by Aristotle and Plato. The subject may have more depth than you are willing to plumb.

Well, as usual, I have come to this soiree a little tardy and our guest host seems to have left us to amuse ourselves. After reading his post, it struck me that he might be somewhat wrong-headed. His claim that the Second Amendment "...mentions the right to keep and bear arms within the context of a well-regulated militia..." approaches the construction of the Amendment from the wrong direction. In the correct approach, the "well-regulated militia" is mentioned in the context of the individual citizen's right to keep and bear arms. It is just this approach that allows us the opportunity to have an armed citizen militia in the first place.

Others may believe what they will, but it is that armed citizen militia that has, in large part, been responsible for some adversaries' reluctance to attempt waging a conflict against this Country on this American soil.

"A well-schooled electorate, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and read Books, shall not be infringed."

Had the founders written thusly, would anyone in this country believe that the only literature allowed was voting pamphlets and that the only people who ought to be taught to read were those registered to vote?

All-
p.s. nogod did pipe in over on the Political thread, under
my So. States post.

As I am sure what you really meant to say is "Guns should be outlawed, no thinking person needs a gun" only Neanderthals like you:

What about the 56 million people that have been slaughtered by their own governments in this century alone ? What proof can you give me that this type of situation will not occur again:
In this century there have been at least seven major genocides in which at least 56,000,000 persons, including millions of children, have been murdered by officials of governments "gone bad". The seven cases are:

1915 - 1917 Ottoman Turkey, 1.5 million Armenians murdered;
1929 - 1953 Soviet Union, 20 million people that opposed Stalin were murdered;
1933 - 1945 Nazi occupied Europe, 13 million Jews Gypsies and others that opposed Hitler were murdered;
1948 - 1952 China, 20 million anti communists;
1960 - 1981 Guatemala, 100,000 Mayan Indians Murdered;
1971 - 1979 Uganda, 300,000 Christians and Political Rivals of Idi Amin murdered;
1975 - 1979 Cambodia, 1 million educated persons murdered.
TOTAL VICTIMS: 56 MILLION!

In all of the above instances enlightened individuals such as yourself decided that the common man really had no need for firearms.

If it is that you have a answer other then "It can't happen here" or "You couldn't resist the .gov as it's too powerful, you're stupid" I'd like to hear it. Howbeit I doubt you will respond.

Here is a good link showing the results of "reasonable" gun control in Germany, it is step by step, as it is now. http://www.stephenhalbrook.com/article-nazilaw.html- If you do not read this then debate with you is pointless.

Thanks for the link!

SCUD,
Thanks so much for the link detailing the Nazi Firearms Law and the Disarming of the German Jews by Stephan P. Halbrook.
What a great read and truely an enlightenment. I now have much more knowledge and ammunition in my dialog with the anti-gun, anti-self defense crowd.

Why not generate a topic on this and post the link in case others haven't had the opportunity to read it in the past or haven't seen your current post.

Thanks again.
