The Tactical Levergun?

Find a Cowboy Action smith for your lever gun. They should be able to put new springs and slick the action for about $50. When it's done the lever will feel like a hot knife going through butter. It will stay in your shoulder then. Those guys shoot levers as fast as I can shoot a semi accurately.

Gunsite's version of the tactical levergun

I like the idea that you can "load one-shoot one" with the levergun; I'd hadn't thought of that. If you had the need to deploy an alternative ammuntion type (for example switching from lighter jhps to a heavy hard cast bullet for increased penetration) you could handle it like the "select slug" drill with a shotgun.

I received this notice describing the Gunsite Gunsmithy's newest offering based on a Marlin 45-70 Guide Gun. I was curious about the reference to modifications to the loading gate to allow "easy downloading or unloading." I wonder what that entails?

Looks good. Expensive, but good.

The Marlin .44 Mag that I had set up for pig hunting would have made a fine little "urban carbine". Barrel cut back to 16", trigger/action job a la "Cowboy Action Style", parkerized finish, big-tube zero-magnification red dot pistol scope cantilevered out over the barrel; it was a hella fast-handling little carbine and as most folks know, .44 Mag out of an 8" pistol and .44 Mag out of a 16" carbine are two completely different animals...

I think one of the main reasons for LEOs making a big move towards high powered rifles is from incidents such as the North Hollywood shootout (i.e. bad guys wearing body armor). In that case, a lever gun with a handgun round would not resolve the problem. A centerfire rifle cartridge OTOH would get the job done.

I've never tried them, but would Bianchi speed strips help with reloading the .357 cal. Mod. 94?

Jeff,CA,
My feelings exactly. I carried a Marlin Lever Gun for years hunting and realize that in a world of right handed guns the lever gun in a RH version actually works better in lefty hands. I was looking for a semi-auto urban rifle but was worried about the reaction of my neighbors and other political problems in the future, but realized that not only were they not offended by my lever gun but actually liked it.

I don't know if a 255 gr. lead FP bullet going 1,750 fps would pentatrate a vest, but I would sure think it would disable someone for a time if hit in the chest! That's a big energy dump.
