The state of modern revolvers and the people who use them

When the Zulus came pouring over the sand bags and mealy boxes, a Webley revolver was the handgun to have. When the Zombies come piling over your backyard fence, that big Webley will come immediately to mind. When the SHTF and it's TEOTWAWKI, my Webley Mk. VI will probably be the first handgun I grab. Oh I have more modern and "effective" autoloaders, and so what?

There's no deer alive that you couldn't kill graveyard dead with a properly loaded big bore Colt SAA. And I don't mean as a stunt.

Bullet type and profile mean more to me then capacity. You are very limited in bullet selection for autos. Revolvers open up a great big world of bullet types that perform in a way that I feel is superior to anything that can be fired from an auto.

Can you expand on this? (hey-o) I don't want to write off what you are saying without some more specifics, but I am not aware of any revolver bullets which drastically outperform the Gold Dot, HST, etc in an auto. In fact, the best round for my J is the Gold Dot, which is also the round I use in my 9s.

Lead and semi-jacketed bullets, especially in reload land (wadcutters and the like) are pretty cool. I wouldn't say they outperform more modern bullets for self defense, but they may be worth talking about for plinking, cutting holes in paper targets, and a few hunting situations.

I still like the snazzy JHP rounds the best. If I could shoot premium ammo only, I absolutely would! But at $1 a round, it usually only happens when it's time to clean the gun (and cycle out old carry ammo).
