the sea of 9mm choices

SIG is a hard choice to beat. The P239 in 9mm is a great shooter and works well concealed. It can be had for under $500 and is a great value.

The Kahr K9 is also a good gun. Get the Elite model since its better then the standard (trigger).

I am a self professed 9mm junkie and would like to have one of everything listed in this post.

But since you are on a budget and you eliminated two of my first four choices, the CZ & BHP, how about a used 92FS. They can be found used in real good shape for around $400. I also love the P99 as you might have guessed, and there are some good deals out there on them right now.

For my money, the Glock 19 offers the best combination of durability, accuracy, concealability (if you don't want to buy a second gun for that role), and capacity in the 9mm market.

It's at least as accurate as I am (I can get COM hits out to 50 yards with it), and it just feels right in my hands. Several of my buddies made the comment that Glock's aren't that accurate, until we went shooting! :D

It sounds to me like you're basically narrowed down to something from Sig (239, 225, 228, 229) or HK (USP 9, either full-size or compact). IMO you won't go wrong with any of them.

Oh, the TFL comes up a bit short. Amazing.

If your hands don't work on a BHP or a CZ, try what no-one wants to suggest: A Smith and Wesson auto, like the 5906. The 9XX series guns are supposed to be good also.

Some people say they hate the grips and feel. Perhaps in your opposite case, they'd be perfect for you.

Lots available used for good prices.

Lots of parts, and an existing factory run by sellouts.

Lots of un-nuetered mags around.

Different backstraps available.

Alloy or steel frame available.

Black or silver available.

Compacts available. 39xx series.

Every possible variation o trigger action is available. DA/SA, DAO, frame decocker, slide decocker, night sights, fixed or adjustable, whatever you could want.

Give them a try before you do anything rash.

I suggest a 1066. Same gun, 10mm! (He said nine? Aww rats...)

I've shot most all the 9mm's out there and the one gun that I'm piss on accurate with and feels the best in "my hand" is the Sig Sauer P226.

The quality is there and the accuracy.

Compared to say a glock, it's not light, about 7oz heavier, but personally the composite guns don't do it for me. I don't like how the plastic frame vibrates the recoil through my hand.

Anyhow, I personally feel if you have one hand gun to go with, go sig :)

Well, based on your desire's I would choose from the
following list: Browning Hi-Power, H&K USP, Sig-Sauer model's
P226 or P228, CZ 75, or Ruger. I prefer the Sig's, of course;
but any of these are excellent choice's. The BHP is a SA only
firearm, and the rest offer a DA first shot capeability. Any of
these will serve you well.

First of all, thanks for all of the great feedback. I have done some more field research/ field testing. Since everyone here seems to love the CZ-75 and there were some great recommendations for the ruger, I decided to go shoot them again. I also rented the glock 17. After shooting them all again, I must admit that the cz-75 actually grew on me. It was very accurate and had no feed problems. The only problem i had w/ it was that i hit the magazine release on it twice while i was shooting. Other than that, it was great.
OK ruger fans, I still didn't like your gun. Sorry. I just didn't like the grips and it was easily the worst trigger of the 3 (imho - it was th P95). There were no feed problems this time however. But, I pretty much have eliminated this gun.
I also really liked the glock 17. My hand fit great around the grips (very comfortable), and the trigger broke like clockwork. Accuracy was very, very close to the CZ-75.
So, I have basically narrowed down my choice now to the CZ-75 and the glock 17. PLEASE, if anyone can list the pro and cons of these guns to help me further decide, IT WOULD BE GREAT! :D I have ruled out the Walther, the Sigs and, any HK's because I simply can't afford one. I'd love to get one of these guns, but such is life. Thaks once again for all the great responses.

Sounds like you're going to be a one handgun guy. Don't take this the wrong way, but should you settle for something based on it's price. Respectfully, I would go without for a little longer, and keep researching. I made the mistake of buying a G19 because of price and the Glock name. I'm not out to offend any Glock lovers, but the thing fit my hand like a 2x4 and I never liked the trigger. I vowed to only buy that (subjectively) PERFECT gun from then on. I personally moved onto the Beretta's and Sig's, and have never looked back.
There are a lot of great handguns out there, save, research, and buy the gun that's right for you THE FIRST TIME.

My two favorite 9mms are my Glock 19 and my Kahr K9 stainless, they are to fine handguns and the K9 is a work of art.

If you like the SIG but can't afford one with the prices around here check out gunbroker.com. Also, check out The Gun Rack in Burtonsville, they have some good prices on used SIGs and on new SIG 239s.

Otherwise, from what you've said I'd go with the Glock. As you know from what I've said before (and from other threads if you've seen them) I LOVE my CZ and CZs generally. However, you are asking for suggestions for a gun for you. If you like the Glock best go with the Glock. Glocks are good guns and you probably won't be sorry. If you are they are in demand so you should get a half way decent price if you trade it. While with any gun you need to get training if you are new, it is especially important with the Glock since many inexperienced (and some experienced) people are much more likely to have an accidental discharge with one (a common problem in police departments issued Glocks).

I still suggest checking out The Gun Rack in Burtonsville. Check out the CZ 75PCR to see if you like it. It is smaller so it feels a little different and the grips are rubber instead of plastic or wood and feel great (unfortunately they are only a shop so handling is all you'll get, no shooting). Also, they have used Glocks at good prices, including a few with pre-ban high cap mags (in Glocks I've heard of people paying in the $100 range for high-caps).

Glock 17: better capacity (17+1 v. 15+1); more durable; more pieces and parts available to customize your gun to suit you; polymer frame; safe-action trigger (same pull on each and every shot)

CZ-75: costs less ($100-150 depending on where you live); standard cap mags less expensive; steel frame; DA/SA (carry with hammer down); probably slightly more accurate (just a guess on my part though)

These are both outstanding pistols, and I wouldn't hesitate to own either. I've got the G19, and it's just fantastic IMO.

Im a self admitted CZ nut , but....

I am a self admitted CZ nut, but I know they arent for everyone.
I also have a S&W 3953 9mm, a Kahr K40 and my new toy a Cz83
in 9x18 Makarov....what a shooter. I just sold my cz compact and kept the smith....go figure. I honestly love CZ's and think they are one of the best guns available for any price. I just had to choose between my 3953 and compact...as a CCW, the smitty won.
The glock is a great gun too....I wont talk you into either one of them.....or out of them. They do two different things. The glock is more a defense biased bun...light w/ dao trigger etc......
The Cz is more of an all arounder..target, plinking, home defense..etc. What your intention is with the gun you buy, should
dictate THE gun you buy....IMO. YMMV
Shoot well

My only 9MM is the Glock G19 and so fare I like it alot. Its now my primary carry weapon. Have shot the Beretta 92 and enjoyed it as well. CZ feels good in my hand and plan on getting one soon. Also, gonna give the Kel-tec P11 a try. CDNN has them for $209 so I figure I'd pick one up and give it a try. Kahr feels a little small in my hand. The choices are tough, but the more you shop and handle the different choices the better you can pick. Try and shoot different ones if you can, if not browse the gunshows and handle as many as you can. See which one feels best and fits your bill and go for it.

Throwing my .02, I recently sold my Ruger P-95 as Ihad had FTF problems from day 1. It was a real dissapointment. I currently have both, Glocks and a Walther P-99, love them all. Paid on $449 for the Walther which I think is the best $450 gun in the market.

However, I do carry the 26 daily and really like it, it is a little easier to conceal than the 99.

I will support 100% the recommendation not to settle. Wait a little longer and get what you really want. Otherwise, you will eventually sell your "compromise" and get what you wanted anyway. Cost you more in the long run, and I speak from EXPERINECE.

Good luck with your purchase and happy shooting!!!!!!!
