I've got an early 90's Tasco 4x on my 10/22. I've been killing squirrels with that rig for 20 years. It's ok. The glass has no real issues, but the light transmission is only so-so due to poor or nonexistant coatings, and the erector springs are getting old, making it a bit less repeatable when I adjust it.
My Marlin 925 has a newer Simmons .22 Mag. It adjusts, but does so erratically. It has bad spherical aberration at the edges, making the edge view very distorted, but has decent coatings and is quite a bit brighter than my Tasco. It works, but I'm not enamored of it.
If I can pony up the money, I'd like to try the Weaver rimfire classic 3-9x 32mm AO model. In the meantime, the AO Simmons .22 Mag is probably a good choice, though a bit of a quality control crapshoot.
