The PPQ impressed me today out in the AZ desert

How do you like this set up? From what I've read this seems the way to go.

I'm really happy with it. My buddy that went out with me was also very impressed. After the first mag, he was like, "Okay dude. I'm putting these sights on ALL of my guns..." haha. I usually go for tritium night sights, particularly Trijicon HD's or Heinie... but I've been really liking blacked out rear with red fiber up front lately. Have a similar setup on my USP 45 (only using Dawson's blacked out rear - I prefer the 10-8 version on the PPQ).

Great Scott! I hope you cleaned it first!

Haha, yes, it received a thorough detail strip, clean, and lube - just as all of the guns that go through this test. :) When clean, the VP9 was a fantastic shooter.

As my vision gets worse I find myself in a weird boat. Without my glasses the front sight looks like a lighthouse, but the target is fuzzy (say at 100 yds what are multiple clays clump to form fewer clays). Within 25 yds I have no issues at all getting good hits, but I worry about threat identification in that I might miss a pistol held against someone's side if they were wearing dark pants since the outlines and fine details are what blur for me. With my glasses the targets look like lighthouses, but the front sight is fuzzy if I don't have good lighting. Around dusk or so I'm basically filling up the rear notch with the front sight and going more off point shooting (which luckily works well for me, but still isn't ideal).

I've been thinking a fiber optic front sight might be my best bet given I don't want to go into progressive lenses yet. But I don't want a completely blacked out rear. I want a single dot rear with a fiber front.

the ppq is a great weapon. I have told several buyers that they will love it --and they do

I would NEVER buy one of your used guns though Uncle Malice--wow do you trash them

hope you had a good time doing it:D

lol.. I don't understand why people keep saying this. What, exactly, did I "trash"?

I'm not running them over with a car...or throwing them out of buildings. I'm simply getting them dirty and seeing if they work or not. Immediately after, they receive a full detail strip with deep clean and lube.

My guns get taken better care of than most people. Unless, of course, you don't actually USE your guns and handle it with dainty white gloves as you transport it to the range in a velvet-lined case. A single fighting pistol class is much more abusive to a handgun than what I'm doing.

The only gun I've ever actually abused was my P320 compact... because I literally couldn't get it to fail, so I DID start throwing it around and stomping on it. I didn't care, because I could replace the grip frame for $40.
