The perfect citizens revolver!

I kinda like the term "Citizen's revolver". It's got sort of a classic 50's sound to it for me.

Is it perfect? No, but I suspect it's pretty close to it for most people. Enough power for most people. Simple, and inexpensive, but still good quality. I imagine a lot of them got sold to people who weren't what we would think of as "gun people", but to "citizens" who wanted a gun for the nightstand, glovebox, or to slip into a jacket pocket, "just in case."

1955 Smith & Wesson M&P 38,

"or to slip into a jacket pocket"
What kind of jackets do you have that you can fit a K frame it? Besides that you're pretty much spot on.

I donno...Pretty much every jacket I own I can carry a 2" K-frame in, including the one I've been wearing all night. The gun is a Model 12-2, not a Model 10, still it's a K-frame. The only difference is one's aluminum, the other steel.

I've got a couple of hunting/work jackets I can carry a 4" K-frame in too. No big deal really.

My perfect revolver

Of all my revolvers, and there are many, many, many, the least expensive is my perfect revolver-NAA mini in 22mag.It's with me almost always, and I trust will allow me to get to something bigger. It's in my pocket inside and outside the house, and never in the way.To me,the perfect revolver is not one in a glove compartment,or a vault,or anywhere out of reach.I love my Smiths and Colts, but they're all too large to have with me all the time.If your perfect revolver is for hunting or target shooting, then I misunderstood the meaning of the perfect revolver.

Because of it's simplicity of use and maintenance,,,
.... Well, my Single Actions are 'really' simple to use and maintain as well. :) And been around for a looong time too. As far as I am concerned, the perfect citizen revolver doesn't exist... Each of us make our own choice (a good thing) :) . Mine happens to be a Single Action six-gun to do everything I need doing in general. Yes, I have a Bulldog for CC, but that just re-enforces the idea there is not perfect citizens revolver that fits everyone.

My Model 10 has Pacmeyer Rubber grips but i do not like the flat spot left just behind the trigger on the right side. It sems like there should be a shallow swell to support the trigger finger at this spot.
I see pictures in this string of a set of rubber grips that seem to have just such a filler swell at this point, ANyone know what brand those are?
I will likely end up fitting wooden Combat style grips, as I prefer wood.

I just picked up a Pre 10 with a 5" barrel - DOB 1952 - I've been looking for a nice 10 with a 4" for a while but haven't run across one yet - I passed on one last winter and am kicking myself. This Pre 10 just feels soooooo good in my hand. I love vintage revolvers and to me, the Pre 10 and 10 are what I refer to as a "classy classic".

I also picked ut a Pre 15 Combat Masterpiece - 4". Pretty much the same as a 10 but with different sights - it feels like butter in your hands. There is just soething about the older vintage hand ejectors and their "lines" - I much prefer them over revolvers with shrouded ejector rods, etc. - who needs all that extra iron?!

Great photos guys . . . great pistols! It's a lot of fun looking at what others have . . . and three big "huzzahs" for the Model 10! :)

A Model 10 is pretty dang close to perfect, a nice size (K Frame), .38 Special that can be loaded up or down, fixed sights instead of more fragile adjustable sights, available in 2 up to 6 inch barrel lengths, and best of all, it's a revolver. Here is my trusty old Model 10-6.
