Outstanding piece of writing! Thanks for sharing it. I will never forget.

I tried to post a reply last night.
Couldn't see the keys. Got lost in the memories. Mostly very bad memories.

God bless all of you you've served. I owe you a debt of thanks for my freedom.

My hands stopped shacking enough for me to use the keyboard. Too many memories...

I will always remember.

You can find the price of freedom, buried in the ground.

After the Wall was built, I went to D.C with my family to visit museums, etc. Saw the Wall from a distance and started toward it. The closer I got the slower I walked. It took me two more trips to D.C. before I could finish that walk and actually touch the Wall and look for names of friends.

Damn - Freedom isn't free.

Thank you Vets.

Thank you from my sons who are 1.5 yrs and 4 yrs.

"As nightfall does not come at once, neither does oppression.
In both instances there is a twilight when everything remains
seemingly unchanged. And it is in such twilight that we all
must be most aware of change in the air - however slight -
lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness."
--Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas

I have been to the wall several times. The effect never changes, slight difficulty in breathing, gigantic lump in the throat, can't speak above a whisper, and my feet feel like they belong to another.

I have tried in desperation and frustration to explain it to others. It can only be experienced and felt, not explained.

Thanks for posting. Next time I will experience differently. It should be required reading for EVERY American.

Am also only 26 years old... couldn't make it half way without figuring out that something was in my eye. Very moving. Thanks to all the vets that laid their lives down and to those who made it back for our freedom.
