The "ONE" Handgun: Have you arrived yet?

Life is a journey, enjoy the ride!

The Centennial Airweight Smiths do it for me.

For a holster pistol you can't beat John Moses Browning's original Colt 45 Automatic Pistol.:D

Of course, the N-frame Smiths also qualify as molto coolo.

I actually only own a handful of handguns. Among them, my Glock 21 is the EASY winner. The G19 (my CCW gun) finishes second, but I just love that big piece of plastic!

If I had to get rid of the rest of them for some reason, and only keep my G21, I'd be okay.

Hey BigG,

You do know what the word coolo means in Spanish, don't you?

You just, essentially, called the N-frames "big A-holes..." :D

My exwife got into a pattern of saying coolo! if something was nifty & neat. I had told her the meaning of the word, but you know how it is with some phrases that get into your head and won't let go...

We were in Maine with her brother and his girlfriend, and the ex popped out with that word.

Yep, the brothers GF was Chilean!

The look on her face was absolutely priceless.

I think I got a good solid day's laugh out of that...

Try as I may to convince myself "This is the one" I must admit It never is. It seems I get a new firearm, I enjoy it as a child with a new toy but sooner or later I see or hear about something that is really special. I save my nickles and dimes and just know I must have it because it is the one...sadly, I have repeated this process over and over...Congrats, to you though.

Still searching.

After all one gun for the tropics and another for blacktie or winter wear eh? A gentlemen chooses his apparel with attention to detail, panache and a certain reflection of his character and mood. Thusly, an ill tempered thug may oafishly stuff a chromed "nine" into his oversized trousers, only to find himself fishing in his pocket for a cocked and locked "gat" which is now pointing at his wedding tackle. Whereas a gentleman, with a selection of weapon and properly fitted holster may easily dispatach his foes with outmost haste. Alas, as a gentleman one should never opt for brown leather after 6pm, however oxblood or similar "cordovan" may pass in all but the highest of social circles.

Let us face the fact that breaking bread with Alaskans in a rural setting one may wish to carry more than his customary PPK, say a well worn heavy magnum revolver or meat axe. Whereas such rustic charms are wasted on high society where discretion is the better part of valour, a Seecamp nestled under the cumberbun will suffice.

As to the droll fad the average working man must suffer (casual friday), I would suggest that this does NOT mean showing up at the office in your bath robe with the grip of a Colt SAA sticking out of a terrycloth pocket. Nay, while chinos are frowned upon by this writer outside the tropics, they do allow a certain amount of pocket room where one may stash his weapon du jour.

In essence, a man's taste in firearms may vary as does his taste in shoes or neckties. Staying fashionably "strapped" a gentleman stays ahead of his game, and prepared for any necessity.

:p

I think so!!! ;)
The Glock 36. It is the only one I own that I can ankle carry, pocket carry, belt carry, IWB carry... :D ...and comes in .45ACP!!! :)

denfoote...

If you can ankle and pocket carry a Glock 36 then you are one big individual or you wear extremely baggy clothes.

But, hey that's cool, I'm glad you have narrowed it to just one...but what fun is that?

Dr. Rob;

That may have been the most eloquent, well-written post that I've seen on TFL.

That's saying a lot on a board known for its intellect!!!l

My regards.

Steve.

Dr. Rob,

You are, indeed, "da man". Remind me to hang out with you should I ever get out Colorado way. :)

Tough question. I took a different tack. Thinking about the handguns I have, and have had, I asked myself, which one of these would I carry two of (the 'perfect' backup)?

All things considered, give me a pair of 1911's. I know, it's an old design. Heavy. Slow. Single-action. Low capacity/mag.

BUT,

Nothing says "I think you need to duck" like JMB's enduringly mean .45 pistol.

Excellent posts, all, but...

heretofore, no one has said the obvious:

"The One" is the one you have when you need it!!

(Which is to say, Dr. Rob, my boy, you are spot-on.);)
