The Old JFrame Is Seeing Less and Less Use

Don't sweat it, Mike, we all make mistakes. You mods generally do a great job of keeping the yammering masses on point.

That said, right now, the J-frame is in my pocket. This afternoon, who knows, it might be the LCP?

Hhmmm....the trigger on an LCP just doesn't work for me. I can do the trigger on most double action revolvers, including a j-frame to which I've access.

Mmmm....Yammering masses? Maybe I should go someone else...don't want to be lumped with with said masses?:(ppPatrice

I took my BUG LCP .380 to dept. qual last month and one of the instructors was showing off and shot the standard 50 round - starting from 50 foot state police qual course. He did VERY well (including the required head shots) and started saying he thought all of us carrying it should shoot the standard course instead of the BUG course. Maybe but still it was impressive.

I have bought a bunch off CCW guns and holsters, but the easiest one to carry is my S&W magnaported 357 mag with 38+P's in my pancake holster, IWB or pocket holster rarely!! The only thing close is my 1911 3.5" or my Kahr P40!

I love my LCP, it's my everyday carry. Nothing gets quite that small while still having a decent cartridge, and with a pinky extension it's pretty darn controllable.

My next gun will probably be a G27 or similar, since I found this last winter that carrying a full-side Beretta PX4 was startlingly easy even with a hoodie and a clip holster. Being 6'5", 260 has its advantages. :D

That said, I'll still probably get a Ruger LCR at some point. I point very few guns as naturally.

My first handguns were revolvers but my first concealed carry guns, back in the 80s, were semi-autos. I shoot the Airweight J-frames okay, actually better than my Ruger LCP. Nevertheless, I find myself pocket carrying my LCP and other small semi-autos more these days because of their slim profile. Strangely, though, if I had to pick one gun for that role, it would be my SW Model 38 Airweight.

The only time I don't carry my J frame is if I'm carrying something a bit stouter. As easy as the J frame is to conceal and carry, I don't anticipate ever using anything less that a .38 special to keep my body and soul firmly connected.

I have a LCp and 2 j frames. Model 642CT, Model 60 3in barrel. the two J's get more carry and shot more often then the LCp. I find the LCp to small and uncomfortable to shoot well and to recover for a follow-up shot. I find the recoil to hit the palm and webbing pretty darn hard. For me it's to small.

Nope. I used to carry a 638. These days I carry a 649, but I now wish I'd kept the 638 instead as a backup instead of selling it.

Others come and go but I end up with my 649 Smith riding snugly in my front pocket. No matter what I have 5 shots on time every time and the Crimson Trace makes delivery a snap. Yea, it's got some weight to it but a proper gun belt takes care of that and also keeps it from being a pain to practice with.
