The never ending journey to the perfect CCW.

Training is the answer...just like I said on the other forum. Choose one of your guns and resolve to shoot 5,000 rounds through it by December 2012. Follow the course progression I gave you. You will find you're a very fast and consistent shot after that training.

my 1st was an air weight J Frame 6 shot in 32 H&R magnum... 2nd a CZ-75 Compact, 3rd an air lite K frame 5 shot 44 special, 4th & 5th were antique top break S&W's in 32 & 38 S&W, 6th was a Taurus TCP in 380, 7th is a custom stainless Ruger Montado snubbie in 45 Colt...

I love them all & still actively carry them all in specific situations... my newest Ruger single action snubbie is my favorite, but that super light K frame S&W 44 special is probably the most practical

I found I like collecting CCW "type" guns, & have about 3 dozen different black powder era cartridge revolvers in "pocket size"... my lil 32 S&W snubbie chopped & renickeled long long ago, is one of my favorites... not worth much to "normal" collectors, but because someone 75-100 years ago needed a more compact gun, & thought enough of the lil S&W # 1.5, to customize it for CCW, made it interesting to me... I reload the cartridge, & shoot it often... in fact, I requalifyed for my carry license last year using a custom S&W #2 spur trigger single action in 38 S&W... 1st time that instructor ever had anyone qualify with anything like that... I had no trouble with the range qualification

Concealed

Very hard to improve on the Glock 19 for a 9mm. The 9mm is the smallest caliber I'd carry. The Model 19 for size, weight empty & loaded, capacity, accuracy, reliability, cost, resell value, parts, simplicity, durability - it's very very hard to beat.

The never ending journey to the perfect CCW

I had begun my CC with a Walther PK380. But I found it's length difficult to pocket carry. I finally settled on a Ruger LC9 which has the greater power over the 380 and goes with me unnoticed just about everywhere. I'm really sold on my LC9.

I probably will carry 4 or 5 throughout a year. They all work for me for different reasons. I just make sure they are working okay, spend a little more time practicing with whatever I use before I use it, and then carry that for a while. I'm sure when summer comes around I'll be more limited and cut out the larger ones, but maybe not, depends on what I'm doing and where i'm going. My 642 is the favorite that always works but sometimes (like now) I have a Sig P250sc (for more rounds and it's just easier to shoot) or a PK380 (like the Sig but a little lighter and slimmer). Sometimes a Px4 Compact. My next gun will be another small one, maybe a pocket gun. Probably go smaller before bigger.

The Sig and 642 are the most practical, but I like the others sometimes for the variety and to justify having bought them. They all shoot great and I feel okay with any of them. I don't expect to ever find a perfect CC. I would think everybodies idea of perfect would be differnet based on their lifestyle, area they live in, what makes them feel more comfortable, etc. Obviouldy alot of people on this forum would feel they need a 45ACP while others are okay with something smaller that they will use everyday. I'm more of the latter.

"Does the perfect carry gun exist. (?)" [camsdaddy]

It does.

Conceal carried easily, safe to operate, extremely powerful, and very accurate.

The handgun with all of the above...the 3" barreled micro 1911, and it is made by many reputable manufacturers. The 230gr 45 ACP has been rescuing people for over a century, and today's micro editions make it the 'perfect CCW.'

I'm going to give a +1 to the walther pps. Small enough for all but pocket carry, light, 9mm or .40 cal, for me it is perfect.

Every time I think I've found the perfect carry gun, something else changes my mind. I think I just like the search.
