The most expensive 20 rounds I have ever fired.

Wow. I bought a membership at two local ranges. They both charge $20/hr per person for non-members. That's why I was surprised when I read you paid for a membership and still had to pay $20 to shoot.

At my primary range, membership is around $200 per year, and is good for free range time for myself plus a guest, and includes free rentals. The other one is the same deal but with discounted rentals (I think $5 instead of $10), not free rentals. Since my girlfriend likes to shoot and we usually go together, we just got a single membership for me and split the cost. So it's $100 per year for the two of us, for unlimited range time and rentals.

Rental guns you need to use their ammo, but your own guns you shoot your own ammo.

$40 a year, unlimited visits, can bring the whole family, plus up to five guest. Can shoot pistol, rifle, shotgun, anything. All they ask is to keep the gate locked, wear your badge and follow the rules...

Shoot outdoors......?

Go shoot in the desert......?

That works for some people, but PBP the OP lives in Portland, Oregon (not Or-ee-Gun, but maybe we can change that!).

Quick, class! What is the Pacific Northwest famous for? Yup, it's RAIN.

He needs to have a good non-scalping range available. (Cute chick working there is a good idea too.) Or, as mentioned, he can start one.

One without an icemaking machine :D

My local indoor range / sells life memberships for $ 750 ( and they could charge a $ 75 annual fee - but haven't done that ) / or an annual members fee is $ 350.

So for $ 750 I get:

Free lane rental / no fees for shooting my guns and my reloads
4 standard targets free - daily
shoot any rental gun free ( but I have to buy their ammo )
I get preference for lane availability over non-members
I can shoot any handgun / draw from holster if I pass a safety check
I can shoot any rifle or shotgun

Its a good deal....

So I once bought an unturned, NIB Colt SAA and fired it right off. Had been in a guys safe for years. Want to calculate how much each round fired cost in depreciation of that thing? And it was not even the greatest thrill in the world of recreational shooting or anything. I did not experience any transcendental state from the ultimate revolver experience, in legend anyway.
