I'm back. I guess I meant the Glocktalk guys didn't pick on me so much. Sob, Sob, whine , whine :)

Also, Herodotus - you keep on writing like I am an anti - bah. I'm trying to set the argument in terms of reasonable rebuttals to the defense against tyranny argument. You plan your debate with cognizance of your opponents attack.

One thing from the persuasion literature, if you make a stupid argument for your cause then later reasonable ones are discounted.
I would like to see that the defense of tyranny argument not fall into that category due to inadequate presentations.

As far as foreign invasion - no offense to anyone but have you done some study of strategy and logistics.

There is no one in the planet in the conceivable future that poses an infantry threat to the USA.

To pose such a threat would take such a tremendous change in the military balance and a long term build up that it would be obvious way before we would be faced with a viable need for guerrilla or militia resistance with our personal guns.

If you want to make this argument for the RKBA, you need a realistic threat assessment.
I'll wait for this.

PS - I'm a major military buff - so know your force levels for this one. But this is way off topic.

Thanks for some more incidents like the Oyster dudes.

The fact that we have a standing army whose main purpose is to defend this country offshore and within our borders acknowledges the simple truth that it is possible, albeit remote due to the things you cite, that we could be invaded. Not likely, but we could. We would no more argue the dismantling of this standing army based on the remoteness of being invaded anymore than we could logically say civilian assistance in the form of the unorganized militia would not viable due to this remoteness.

I suggest that were we invaded, however unlikely you believe that be, the entire membership of this board, along with other like minded people across the land would participate in the common defense. Whether or not this simple truth fails to coincide with your extensive study of military history or levels of force research matters not one whit.

If invaded the populace, organized and unorganized would fight. If logically coupled analogy of dismantling the army due to the remoteness of invasion, this is a perfectly acceptable argument for RKBA.
