Im sure i'll draw Tracer-rounds on this one. but here
goes:

-Ive seen the reports that Jane Fonda is "Sorry" for what
she did regarding the pointing of Anti-aircraft guns at
our servicemen duing the 1960s.

-Ive also seen reports (prior to y2k) that miss Fonda has
converted to Christianity.

Heres my opinion (for what its worth):

I know that probably 90% of you would like to see her
burn at the stake BUT, please.. consider this, before you
light the charcoal:

If miss Fonda, HONEST-TO-GOD...means what she says,
...(from the deepest caverns of her heart),...then why
not?

i know she did wrong. Way back when,...but for all you
"Christians" out there, just remember:

"Let he who is without sin,..throw the first stone".

If Miss Fonda means it, (from her heart), then as a
"Christian" we must accept her repentance. And only
Jesus, or God himslef can judge her sins (as mine).

ALSO, think about it in a "tactical" sense? Just like the
Commies who exploited Fonda in the 60s for their cause,
posing for photos,...well then, we can do the same.
Once she crosses the Patriotic bridge"... Over to our side

the side of "Freedom". we can do the same.

Think about it???? *JANE FONDA* converts to our side!?
WOW!!! Now THATS, a jewel in the crown.

Thats how the dominoes fall. All they need is a big
name like FONDA to cross the bridge to our side. And
folks, we just may start a land-slide. Think of all the
Socialists who are "questioning" their political
orientation right now. They WANT, to come over to our
side. But because of the right-wing agression, they
never will.

Extend your hand to these aging socialists. *FORGIVE*,

please forgive,

as a christian should. Welcome them over to our side.
DO IT, people.

You only live once.

Welcome ALL, our socialist brothers & sisters who are
changing their opinions (to our side). We can do it. They
are not perfect,...and neither am I.

But I will say this:

If we CONSTANTLY, and angrily slam the door in Fonda,
and all those MILLIONS, of socialists out there,

we will never win.

never.

we are all going to die.

Kiss goodbye to you guns & your freedoms. Because if
you corner a Bengal tiger,...he only has one choice.

kill.

MH.

Meat-Hook, part of me agrees with you and the other parts are just confused. I understand the different sides to the question, and would love to have someone with the clout she has on our side, though I don't see much hope for it.

As for forgiveness, I'll forgive - probably soon, with reservations.
Forget - not on our lives.

Forgiveness is supposed to come with confession. If she would sit with the families fo those who died, and genuinely apologize and beg forgiveness, not put out a press statement, then as a Christian myself, I would only stoop to a sinners level if I held a grudge.

As a human, it is impossible to forget, but we should remember that the heavenly father throws the sin as far as the east is from the west, If you ask with all your heart.

We must also remember that it is not ours to judge.

She did terrible things yes, but if she is genuine, then I believe forgiveness can be attained.

We all seem to have forgiven the Japanese for slaughtering nearly 2,000 Americans at Pearl Harbor!...........

Forgive? Sure. Well, as much as my imperfect human heart is capable of, anyway. However, I believe I'll wait until her continued actions over time indicate true repentence...

Welcome the sister to the club, I say. Christians are not perfect, just forgiven. We have all done something worthy of condemnation. But our God is holy and just to forgive. So who are we?

If you have talked to some of her and ex (Teds) Montana neighbors as I have you would know that her words and actions don't jive. Very arrogant people I am told.

IMHO people like her are like flags- they point whichever way the wind blows without a thought as to how or why. She was a useful tool for the communinsts for exactly that reason.
Should we also use her as a tool? That would be very dangerous; using an elitist airhead as a spokesperson. There's no telling what insipid nonsense might rattle out of that empty head and out of her mouth. If she had a good handler then possibly.
Forgive? Yes. Forget? Never.

Meat Hook:

You've got a cleaver handle for one professing forgiveness. I don't think this is a valid statement to polish Fonda's forgiveness because she is now a Christian. I've seen left wing and right wing Christians in action and I believe some are narrow mindied hypocrites...Fonda is a hypocrite, (one who pretends to now have virtue) I would not worry about public attitude towards her.
The only way you can hurt rich people...is to make them poor people. Fonda is as poor as church mice, she has no character and no virtue...she is unlike those poor guys who suffered and died at the hands of their commie captors.

Meat-Hook, You have valid points. Yes, she has asked forgiveness, and if she is sincere it should be granted.

However, is she only asking forgiveness for this one indescretion or the whole of her life? What I'm saying is that weight around here neck is I'm sure getting heavy. The only problem is I'm afraid that her only concern is of this one item.

Has she converted her whole train of thought from the communist-socialist way? I don't think so. I think that she is still just as big a communist socialist liberal as she ever was and to have her as an ally is not in my best interest nor yours.

Does she understand that the whole of her indescretion is not just a few pictures but a lifetime of her socialist agendas?

My GranPa always said a man that was sorry for getting caught at something was not the same as a man that was sorry for what he had done and came forward to confess his indescretion. I wonder where Ms Fonda falls in this?

Is she going to become Pro-Gun and join the NRA? Will she give all her millions to the poor? Is she going to endorse Geo.W.? Will she uphold and promote morals?

Jane Fonda/Ted Turner/Time-Warner how soon some forget..............

To swallow and follow, whether old doctrine or new propaganda, is a weakness still dominating the human mind. (C.P.Gillman)

What has she done to prove her change of heart? Has she gotten up on the bully pulpit celebrities have and spoken up for the veterans? Has she actually gone to the various veterans organizations and apologized in person for her actions to the people she offended? Has she spent any of her wealth to help veterans? How about going to congress and testifying about the broken promises that were made to military people in order to keep them in the service for 20+ years. Bill Clinton apologized for his actions, do you really think he meant it? She is no different. For there to be forgivness there has to be honest and real repentence. I have seen no actual repentence on her part therefore, no forgivness from me.
DOCSpanky, you say it is not for us to judge someone. Do you associate with drug dealers, prostitues, thieves, murders, pedophiles and rapists? Do you let your family associate with those kind of people? Do you like everyone you meet and invite them to your home to share a meal and conversation? Have you ever served on a jury? All these are times where we make a judgement of a person's character. I'm not trying to insult you or start a war but not making judgements of a person is the liberals excuse for acceptance of low life behavior and the cowards way out of calling it for what it is.

Have you ever noticed how many death row prisoners find God and Jesus and declare how they have been reformed and reborn? If you believe them, could I interest you in some bridge property available on the US interstate highway system?

You are all daft.

So what she said she was sorry. There are some crimes that do not warrant forgiveness. She was not wrapped up in a moment, she did not see a crowd of rioting people and pull a man out of a truck and beat him with a brick.

She arranged and provided for a visit to our stated enemy. She sat among guns that were used for killing our men, she betrayed a captured serviceman by handing his 'message in a bottle' to a thug who like bad guys and g.c. laws, did not follow the Geneva Convention with respect to POW treatment.

The police action / war was not her fault, no. Betrayal and treason were. Benedict Arnold, one of America's greatest generals, who almost captured Quebec (and Canada would have been the 14th colony/ state) is reviled because of his treason. Why should jane or CARLA FAE TUCKER beforgiven because of her repentance. I am a christian (by name) and have been schooled in all of the wonderful world of morality and forgiveness. There are mortal sins; there is hell which you can not say you are sorry to get out of.

I do not wish jane ill, but I will not support her. Let her donate all her money to Veteran's causes and live like an average joe for a while- pumping gas, $4 hair cuts, no stock money, just pay the electric and the Visa. When it comes time to defend her right to be broke and belittled by the liberal, "we know what's best for you," media, she can go die for the right to keep her mind free, and the prospect of her children being better off than her.

I could care less what she says. The charcoal is roaring and the flames are licking the sky.

Why is everybody all boud up about the AK-47? YEAH, I GOT ONE, WHAT'S IT TO YA?!

Read her "apology" carefully. Unless she has given another and I missed it, she basically said that if what she did hurt the feelings of the veterans who were protesting against her, then she was sorry about that. I don't recall her saying that she was sorry for what she did, just that people are upset about it. That is as Klintonesque as it gets.

Jack M makes a very good point. Remember, fellows, that in Fonda's statement, she didn't say that she regrets having taken the actions, only the photograph. IOW, she doesn't give two shiites that she's a traitor, just that she was caught.

I will never forgive nor forget.

DOCSpankey said;
"We all seem to have forgiven the Japanese for slaughtering nearly 2,000 Americans at Pearl Harbor!..........."

DOC, I haven't forgotten or forgiven, and the same goes for Hanoi Jane. :(

I am VERY FAR from human perfection and I admit I do not always live up to Christian ideals and teachings. However, I simply cannot forget or forgive what Ms. Fonda did in Vietnam.

In '85 and '86 I attended senior war college (ICAF) at Fort McNair in Washington, DC. One memorable morning, we had about 25 former-POWs (all ICAF and NWC graduates) as honored guests. Some of these gentlemen were severely tortured, to the point of loosing the mobility in their limbs FOR LIFE, to encourage anti-US propaganda -– as a DIRECT RESULT of Ms. Fonda North Vietnam self-aggrandizement. These officers suffer every day –- and have been in serious pain for 30+ years –- so Ms. Fonda could make a political statement and enhance her "Hollywood liberal" reputation. If that is not treason, than nothing is.
