The final word in caliber debates.

1911Ford, Are you making reference to the .45ACP or the .45 (long) Colt? I've heard that if you use non-hollowpoints in both, the .45 (long) Colt comes out ahead.

Up above with all the .45 .45 etc....? I was talking .45 ACP.

Come any closer to a decision on your BIG GUN yet.

By the way, I knew what you meant by ".45" as I own a couple of 1911's myself :D

YES size does matter and the SMALLER the pattern in an attackers vitals the better !

can you say mozanbeek (well at least better than I can spell it ;) )

ds1973,

It's a pre-agreement Slick and Weasel Model 649 I've been waiting for for two months because I live in California and bought too many guns this year, shame on me.

It's a five-shot small frame stainless steel two inch snubbie with a shrouded hammer that can also be cocked for single action firing.

Very satisfying.

Ledbetter

It's not the size of your gun, it's how many times you can shoot it without stopping to reload!!

:D

Later,
Chris

Buzz: I'm glad you laid down the Final Word. I was beginning to think this might go on for awhile......

What I like best is my 58 auto... It has real stopping power; 79,000 foot pounds of energy which will put any of this lilliputian stuff into the thimble wars. That's right when it gets time for real stopping power -- I just aim my 58 auto at them... and let her rip... 58 auto Buick that is. They don't get back up after one shot with it... one hit one kill. No second hit needed. I just thought you folks with lesser calibers needed some real size to compare to! ;)

Well I wanted to end this debate finally once and for all. So if you won't tell anyone, here is what I did. ;)

Went out today and shot 6 people just to see what would happen. Here are the results.

1. First victim weighed 233 lbs. and I shot him with a SIG P220 .45 ACP using 230 gr. JHP. After two rounds to the torso he looked at me and then got angry. Took 4 shots to stop him.

2. Second victim weighed 193 and was shot with a Beretta 92FS 9mm using +p+p++pp ammo. After the first 15 zipped right through the guy I changed mags then one to the head did him in.

3. Third victim weighed 328 and was shot with a Hi Power .40 s&w using 180 gr. jhp ammo. Handloads of course. Three rounds to his torso stopped said victim.

4. Fourth victim weighed in at 161 and was shot using a Ruger MKII using cheap Wal-Mart brick ammo. After two complete magazines the victim came running towards me and it was only the loss of blood from the 20 holes in his arms, legs and belly that allowed me to outrun him. I'm writing this in hiding.

5. Fifth victim weighed 217 and was shot with a Vaquero .45LC, quick draw was utilized, and one shot was used to knock the gun from his hand then the next one to the heart totally dispathed him as the wisps of smoke curled from the barrell of the gun....

6. Sixth victim weighed 288 and was shot using a Glock 26 with cheap K-Mart ammo. After emptying three shots to the chest, three to his left arm, one to his left leg, two to the right arm and two to his head he came screaming at me with a crowbar. Didn't have time to reload so I took aim and threw the plastic peacemaker at him. Just like David and Goliath, no kidding. Dead as a stone.

Now if my personal study isn't clear to all of you experienced professionals and it doesn't answer all of your questions, I don't know what will. :D :D

No. As another poster said, "having a gun when you need it"; and knowing how and where
to place your shot's, are ]b]most[/b] important. :D

It's a riot that some folks don't even read the thread...they just post their thoughts.

I want a full auto, double barrelled, .22 Long rifle pistol (barrels spaced about eye-ball width apart). He can't hurt you of he can't see you! :D

I noticed that too, Frontsight.

sks, I want to see if I can replicate your results. The herd around here needs some thinning in any case.

It only takes one (of any size) to win... IF you're man enough to put it where it belongs.

funny how those that say that size don't matter are usually the ones packing the "short" artillery. just ask any experienced lady. LOL

one of my favorite size impared jokes is that: It don't matter how deep you fish. It's how you wiggle your worm that counts.
