The bullseye glory days are fading

There was never any formal Bullseye shooting at clubs around my area. Trap
was big deal and they would have a few rifle & pistol shoots in the summer.
Back in late 70s they started a IMSA club. I went up there and shot a round.
There was no one there shooting revolvers. The center fire were all single shot
BAs or Contenders and same with rimfire. I was a orphan with revolvers. I got
to shoot but revolvers are another class and I shot my round after the single
shot guys, by myself.

I was mostly into deer hunting then with revolvers. The last 10yrs got back to
Bullseye. No formally, but shoot wad cutters NRA style with S&W revolvers. I
do have a 52 and a Browning Hp competition model but still rather shoot the
revolvers.

10 years ago I went as a guest to a local to me club. They invited me to attend and see if I was interested in membership. They were very clickish.

Click #1. Mall ninja tacticool dudes group. Average age was about mid 40's. They looked down on, and talked down to anyone that did not have the latest greatest tactistuff on their guns. Also anyone that did not have what they did had trash. (That is how they acted.)

Click #2. Trap shooters. Kept to themselves on the trap field. If you tried to talk to any of them. They may will for lightning to strike down on you for disrupting them. Most were in their 60's.

Click #3. The bull's eye group. These guys were in their 60's. Every one of them were grumpy, and rude to anyone that tried to even talk to them. I brought my grandpa's old bull's eye revolver with a couple of boxes of wad cutters. Being in good shape, and in my early 30's with a good pair of specs. I spanked their bottoms badly. Very badly. They still looked down their noses.

Click #4. Run n Gun guys. Not a one of them under 45. All had full out race gun set ups. Only to be hindered by the range rules of 1 shot per 5 seconds. (Rapid fire practice days were set up for one day per 2 months in a 3 hour window.) They made sure if you were not in their little click you were not going to make the list for a slot in that time window. (I spanked them up real badly in their own little mini match. Instead of being inviting they got angry.

I decided not join the club. I paid $250 a year to go to an open to the public range with good rules. Great staff, and nice clean facilities. The other club required an NRA membership, and $85 year. Monthly meetings were required, and they had them at one of the most expensive eating place in town. At 9:00 PM. I was working early shifts, and was in bed by 7:00PM.
