The most accurate rates observed (with a 95% accuaracy by Columbia University) confirm the Phylogenetic rates were 20 times too slow. The more accurate observed rates (Pedigree rates) reveal a younger age for man; 6500 years.

Using science to prove a faith.... sigh.

Where should I begin?

I smell locks.

Very true but it's also reminiscient of some hard line right wingers complaining that kids are being taught Jefferson owned - and did other things to - slaves, that the pioneers slaughtered natives of this land, that this country was built on the backs of people that were routinely treated like scum and that until this century most women were nothing more than property to those honorable Americans
.
All true, whether anyone likes it or not.
I've never heard anyone complain about these facts.
And if they did, it's to darn bad.
They are all part of our historical record and cannot be refuted.
I just can't believe there are "educators" that are more interested in "feelings" than the truth.
I know I shouldn't be, seeing how liberal views have all but destroyed public education in this country.
But to completely ignore world changing events just for the sake of not "offending" someone....well, I'm just sickened, saddened, angry and worried, lest this mindset take over in this country.
Can't parents/the public do anything to corral school curricula?
Are parents completely helpless in such cases?
My boy is 2.5 and if this is the sort of stuff I'm gonna be dealing with, I'd better get ready for some exhaustive fighting!
The private schools have maintained their sanity, haven't they?

LOL. You're joking, right? In public schools, your kids' education is at the whim of the teacher, which is set by the administration, which is a puppet of local/county/state politics. In private schools, the politics part is simply replaced by the primary funding sources--essentually the same thing but with less public oversight or influence. Name one piece of sanity involved. :D

I dont understand whats happening to Britan. for 500 years they were the worlds super power, and a force to reckoned with. It seems like in the years after WW2, they have become more and more pacifist. With all the recent events in the world, i figured they'd be a little more proactive in world politics.

You can argue creation vs. evolution till your blue in the face, but you'll never change the views of the other side. I for one belive in evolution, and have long given up the quest to educate others.

I suppose that's always been the case.
But by and large, the private schools do a much better job and have much more freedom when it comes to discipline.
And I don't know of any overall policies that are in place NOT to teach certain subjects.
Do you?
Maybe there are.
Short of home schooling, I think private is the only way to go.

Though I have a feeling that if this continues to be nothing but an evolution/creation debate then it will quickly fall victim to lockitude for both being OT for the thread as well as being a religious debate (OT for the forum).

Lockitude? Dude! You just coined a new word!

This thread hit lockitude, some time between when I first read DasBoots opening (and only) post and when I got back home to view it a second time...

Sorry DasBoot, but the thread really got derailed, despite you and others attempt to keep it on track.

Closed.
