Gun Tests Magazine tested the CZ-99 a few years back and said that while the CZ-99 looked like a SIG 226, it was really based on the CZ-75 design. (This was the same Crevna Zastava company of Kragujevac, Yugoslavia of which you speak.)
I'd like to have a SIG armorer take one apart, and explain how they made the SIG design (if that's what it is) ambidextrous. That's more than a minor cosmetic change. An armorer familar with SIGs could answer the question of whether the gun is fundamentally a SIG or a CZ-75...
I don't know who to believe. I do know, however, that some model CZs have ambi controls, and none of the SIGs do...
(Gun Tests shows a photo of the CZ-99 in their Handgun Buyer's Guide, and it looks exactly like a SIG 226 -- but they show the left side; you can't see the ambi controls.)
The two CZ-99s they tested over a two year period were poor performers -- both in terms of function AND accuracy. They did see improvements in the newer gun.
Another CZ-75-based gun that LOOKS LIKE a SIG is the Swiss Sphinx AT-2000H. Gun Tests considers it the best of the CZ-75 designs. (But since it sells for over $1,000, it should be pretty good.)
