The .45 ACP Cartridge Is Dead Sexy

There is no magic bullet capable of duplicating the performance of Capt. Kirk's phaser, that is, to drop them right there. Until then, I'll stick with the 45 ACP.

The two on the left vintage WW I, the right from WW II.

I found photos recently of the Remington .45 ACP's in the box with the box panel telling shooters to put the empties into water, seems reloading was big back then, imagine using those pliers type loading setups.
But also noticed the deep case cannelures, they must have had problems with bullet setback. When I started loading .45 ACP back in '73 I had problems with it, loading with a Lee loader using a hammer! About 1980 I got a CH canneluring tool and started doing the same thing, and bullet setback stopped.
Now I get the same reliability using the Lee FCD, but a cannelured case is a one time answer too.

I have nothing against the good old .45 ACP. I have been closesly assosciated with it for over 45 years. I am a fan.

The newer round that I would think of in terms of sexier (since everything circles around the term sexier these days like clothes, cars, and etc.) I would have to look at the .357 Sig round expecially in a nickle casing. It is also fun to shoot and despite rumors not difficult to reload.

"Draw a circle around a 9mm case. Draw a surrounding circle around a 45 case.

Difference? the pencil lead of width."

Meaning?

Realistically, not a damned thing other than fodder for silly memes on the internet.

Naaaaahh...
No appreciable difference at all.;) :D

I started my cop career with a Colt Govt Model. All through the heyday of IPSC.
Then, I had to carry a Glock .40....

Retired...
New job, I can carry whatever I wanted.

My 1989 Wilson Master Grade is back in a holster.

If you are being held hostage, you want me to have that gun in my hand...

I don’t know about sexy but the big cartridge is easier for me to handle with my stubby stiff fingers, it also fills my needs to shoot big-bore handguns.

And along with the 45 acp do you notice how 1911's just will never die out....seems like every one that's made gets sold !
The 1911 and the 45 acp are just so old....they must be obsolete by now...

I like old and obsolete...Mines a AMT Hardballer.
