The 308 vs 3006 vs 300 win Mag rifle debate

I think the .308 would be good for you because it doesn't have too much kick cause the 30-06 gives you a sore shoulder and the .300 win mag has more and you can buy .308 tulo ammo , $7 for a box of 20 and the .308 doesn't have bad ballistics so you can take a animal from far. For example, I saw a guy take a elk with a .308 at 700 yards.

Having shot on the same day, two 9 pound Garands, one a .30-06 and the other a 7.62 NATO, 50 times each, standing, sitting and prone, no significant difference in felt recoil. In spite of these differences shooting 172-gr. match loads from each:

7.62
Recoil Impulse in (lbs sec),.............2.69
Velocity of recoiling firearm (fps).....9.63
Free recoil energy in (ft/lbs)..........12.96

.30-06
Recoil Impulse in (lbs sec)..............2.87
Velocity of recoiling firearm (fps)...10.26
Free recoil energy in (ft/lbs)..........14.70

The .30-06 was a little louder.

Here's a 9 pound .300 Win Mag shooting out a 172 at 3100 over 71 grains of powder:

.300 Win Mag
Recoil Impulse in (lbs sec)..............3.63
Velocity of recoiling firearm (fps)...12.97
Free recoil energy in (ft/lbs)..........23.51
