^^^^^^^That's a beautiful photo and pistol there Doc. I've never considerd an M41, but my have to reconsider. From all reports I've read they are VERY accurate, especially the older ones.

Thanks

I'm a new convert.

A good friend placed one in my hands and pointed toward small metal targets at 50yds.

Thinking, "Oh, why not?", I fired away.

an "AH HA!" moment in my gun experience

trigger is unlike any pistol I'd ever shot

balance is perfect

the repeated sound of "PING" has me hooked

Seriously, just do what you have to do and get one. ;)

I have OMT's in .22, .32 and .38 they are nice guns I like the S&W's better though:

the .38

the .32

dont have any photos of the .22. Might sell them as a set.

..Some of my Match pistols..

ISSF class match pistols; Scope or dot shooters need not apply...

First pistol is a Morini 22CM RF designed for ISSF rapid fire event,
but can be used for Bullseye and the next pistol is a Morini 84E. This
is an electronic trigger for the ISSF "Free Pistol" event shot at 50 meters. These
are very adjustable and a lot of fun to shoot and compete with.

A fine S&W 22 revolver there, I would be a shamed to shoot it. I rather shoot a more beat up one.

I admire your loyalty to those fine handguns. I have recently acquired a Smith & Wesson Model 22A 22 LR target pistol. It is an amazing gun in the shakey hands of this 70 year old shooter. I really like the 'feel' I get holding and shooting this one "off-hand". Today I did a run of 18 out of 20 (2 mags) in the Smith hitting the spinner target 35 yards away from my back deck. This is only the second time I have fired it. It is a March 2012 production gun, and promises to be a long-life member of my shooting family.

I added a cheapie RED-Dot I had in the gunsafe, to see how it helped (or hindered) the accuracy of my shooting. Once I got the thing zero'd it was 10 out of 10 on the 50 yard spinner targets for me !! I am quite happy with my "Plastic Smith".

Oh, it gets so much worse. Pretty soon, you'll be looking for a Model 18, then a Diamondback in .22. Then there are the High Standards, and well...it's a slippery slope :)

PAD

Ah, yes.....a new case of PAD (Pistol Aquisition Disease). Abandon hope now. First it's one gun, then a back up just in case, then a set (might as well); next, it another gun type and the cycle repeats. Your gun safe becomes too small and you start taking over closets and shelves.
Alas.
Not to mention your increased susceptibility to related diseases like SAD and RAD.
Do you reload?
Pete

Model 41 Smith. Brings back many fond memories from my days on the Central Missouri State University Pistol team.

My Beretta 87T is my best target .22. Had MKIII, Buckmarks, and a S&W 22A-1, but the Beretta is better. Modified the grip using ironfilled epoxy to make a thumb rest, shown in pic no. 2. Now use a scope on it which is better than the reddot shown in old 2004 pic.

After you have a back up for your back up pistol the old school target guns start to appear in you collection. These are some of my Colts.
1/ Colt Camp Perry single shot
2/ Colt Match Target Woodsman with the long grips
3/ Colt Ace (this one belonged to Major Kramer and was used on the officers pistol team at Frankfort Arsenal during the 2nd world war)

When did you shoot there, Itc444? I was on the team from 1970 to 1972. Go Mules!

My 22 target pistol is a 1972 Browning Medalist (Belgium made) that was given to me new, by my Papa for my 12th birthday. I still have it in it's original presentation box and still shoot it. Most accurate handgun I have ever shot. In 1972 it cost $138 new. I have the receipt. It is NOT for sale!
