TFL members!!-The Brady's now want our hunting rifles!!

Everyone thinks this will damage the Brady Bunch, yet the hoplophobes were saying the same thing prior to their major successes of the Brady Bill and the AWB.

What this will do is to get the Fudds motivated, but only in terms of protecting their own toys. They will push to protect hunting rifles, and will accept the sacrifice of "assault weapons" as the political bone to be thrown to save their own interests.

Buzz is right about the "assault weapons" being thrown to the VPC crowd as an appeasement. Read the posts, some of you guys are practically dancing in the street thinking that this will unite all gunowners. Nada. A lot of firearms enthusiasts only care about protecting their small area of interest. The saying "A rising tide raises all boats" has an antithesis, "An ebbing tide grounds all boats" or as one of the founding fathers said "We must all hang together or, surely, we'll all hang seperately" is missed by a lot of gun people. Zumbo, and his ilk, are all too willing to sacrifice us to keep their "toys" for a little longer. Why they can't see the big picture, I don't know. Selfishness, willful ignorance, thinking that they may be above it all and it won't effect them? Beats me.

"22s are also the most easy of all the rounds to use with a silencer. They are a favorite of assassins performing mob kills, using a semi-automatic .22 or a revolver chambered in that caliber along with a silencer."

Well - at least outlawing guns will stop mob hits! :barf:

I see the term Sniper Rifle mentioned fairly frequently in this discussion, and I find myself curious re that term.

While I no longer compete in either long range rifle shooting or National Match Coursse Competition, I did both for many years.

I started with a Garand, which was the U.S. Service Rifle in WW2 and Korea. Shot everything from 200 through and including 1000 yards with this rifle. I pretty much wore it out, and traded it off on a bolt gun, Model 70 Winchester Standard Target Rifle. Both fired the 30-06 round.

While the Model 70 had scope blocks on it, I usually shot with "iron sights", the scope destroyed the balance of the rifle, I thought. Given that a telescopic sight can be mounted on most bolt action rifles, as well as some level action types and pump actions too, does that make them Sniper Rifles? I would think not, but then I do not worship at the Brady shrine.

At the risk of repeating myself, the ultimate and often stated goals of our anti gun friends are, THE TOTAL PROSCRIPTION OF FIREARMS. Now and then they try to parse the phraseology, but if you look at their past utterances, their stated goals are there to be plainly seen. Readers need to keep that fact in mind.

As for all those AK-47's and other, so called assault rifles, respecting such rifles that are readily available in normal commercial channels, your local gun shop, or even the local gun show, none of the items there sold make the grade as assault rifles, for none have the defining characteristic, SELECTIVE FIRE CAPABILITY. The next time you hear some blow hard political type venting on the subject, when they pause for breath, ask about or mention that aspect of the story, then observe their reaction. It might be amusing.

In conclusion, never forget the following. Outfits like The Brady Group realy are out to "degun" the law abiding. I say the law abiding because criminals simply do not obey the law, strange isn't it?

So does anyone know where I can get a silencer for my revolver? I've been looking everywhere for one.

Tarwater, you might try your local Mega Lomart store. Ask for a pillow. Probably about as close to silencing a revolver as you're gonna get.

Tarwater,
Your gonna need to meet federal regulations for that silencer, do some checking. But first hold your gun up to the light and look between the cylinder and the barrel. See the light from the space between the two? Now next time you shoot it take a light cloth and let it drape over that part of your revolver or shoot at dusk and see the flash from that space. then you will understand why it's kinda hard to silence a revolver.

The Brady types will not ever be satisfied till you no longer can defend yourselves in any way.

Large caliber Sniper Rifles such as the .50 Browning Machine Gun can derail freight cars, shoot down aircraft and helicopters, damage vital ground equipment such as power substations, fuel tanks, and air traffic control, and cause complete chaos.

Derail freight cars? Even a car or truck in front of a train will rarely derail one... let alone a .5 inch bullet....ha! Complete chaos? ha!

I hope their idiocy continues in this direction... even the non-gun types can see right through this drivel.

They DO have 5 'friends' as of now though... we should tread softly.
No, no...

They are right, you can use .50 BMG to derail a freight car...

If the .50BMG is still in the P-47 that flew straight into said freight car at 300mph.

The only difference between a hunting rifle and a sniper rifle is the target. A center fire rifle with a scope is meant to put one accurate killing shot into a large critter/man at extended range. I figured a long time back that the hoplophobes would relabel our hunting rifles as evil sniper weapons when they wanted to ban them. When the USA finally figured out that they needed snipers in Viet Nam they bought Remington 700s in the PX. Is anyone surprised?

they are targeting 22s, hunting rifles, shotguns, "assault weapons(rifles with pistol grips)", handguns, etc.

Not much else left now is there?

I remember when a lot of the hunting folks were real uppity when the bradies approached them with flowers and champaign and used the urban crime stats to lure the country folks into a false sense of superiority over the colored folks.

Joke's on them now.

Our local paper is reporting today that a woman turned in her sons sawed off bolt action rifle filled with deadly hollow-points... Of course the picture shows a handfull of .22 LR

Thank god it wasn't a .30-06, I hear only terrorists use that caliber because it seeks out and kills all babies within a 10 mile radius.

I'm being sarca-ca-castic.

:)

Okay, just checking.

Otherwise those Brady guys sure would be smart about .22 assassin killweapons.
;)
I don't think that you can use the words "Brady guys" and "smart" in the sme sentence without breaking some law of logic or other, can you?

Re comments in your post #32, you blow some interesting holes in the baloney produced by the anti gunners. To bad such points never seem to make it into the daily newspaper, or what passes for news and information seen/heard on The Idiot Box.

hunting purposes?

How many people keeps that duck gun under their pellow just in case a rape crazed mallard breaks the door down and swoops in? Thank goodness for that clause in the 2nd Amendment about "hunting purposes only". Brady needs to get a life.

Re your closing observation, she and her co-religionists have one. It centers about ordering others around, for she and others of her ilk "obviously" know what is best for the rest of us ordinary types. Besides, we aren't to be trusted.
