TFL members that frequent other boards

I would like to keep this as low profile as possible, as this is informational only.

This post is primarily aimed at the TFL’s that frequent the Ms. Board.

Have any of you ever wandered outside of the “Politics” area?

Have you noticed the conspicuous absence of profile information of some of the vocal members there?

I still remember the profile of Arielle
"women's rights, human rights, the environment, animal rights, peace and justice issues, socialism, activism, gay and lesbian rights "

Gimme a break!

I have been hanging out in Art/Culture area and enjoying it. I actually have more in common with them when it comes to picking movies than with TFL (although most films I like don't overlap with either group). Their server is dog-slow (from where I am), you might have better luck. Please be civil...don't want the rest of their server to end up like the Politics muckfest (though it has improved now that the shor attention span crowd has left).

Oleg...

Why is Russia referred to as "Bear" instead of "Wolf"? You remind me of the guys in high school who took Home Economics as an elective course....why? Cuz they could hang out with the girls and it paid off....they dated more, the girls interceded for them with other girls...shrewd Oleg, very very shrewd :D :D

I spend most of my time in Politics but have recently spent a lot of time in Sex. (Hey, I'm not a feminist, I'm a male, what do you expect.)

Go in there and look for a thread titled "Crushes VII--the Gyno-Mobile Returns." Basically just a big cyber-orgy by the time they were done. No wonder they stick together so well. . ....

Oh, and yeah, I notice the conspicuous lack of email addresses and pretty much all else.

But I'm certainly learning some new ideas:

1) It's wrong to be tough or to aspire to be tough, because "toughness" is a myth. Those who seem to be tough, like Audie Murphy, are actually "marshmallows" and are pretending because they've been socialized that way, which is a cruel crime against men.

2) A billboard that says "95% of domestic violence is caused by men" should not offend men because it is not a real stereotype, since it doesn't actually say that ALL men are included.

3) It is misogynist to say that the average woman is smaller and weaker than the average man.

4) guns are unnecessary because 125-lb. women who "know karate" can simply beat the crap out of 250-lb. men who attack them.

Yeah, I've noticed this lack of info on a lot of boards. Invariably it the anti-gun shriekers who have blank pages, although a few pros do to. However, the vast majority are the liberals. This goes for the newspaper message boards also. The antis almost NEVER have an email, even if they do have a profile.

It's like somebody in the shadows yelling curses at you.

In their defense, I don't post much either. To be honest, I'm afraid of wackos :) You just never know and I feel safer if I choose to give my email to someone, rather than post it for the world to see.

I have frequented other parts of the Ms. Boards, because I keep thinking that their has to be common ground. I haven't found it yet and frankly, I'm starting to get a bit grumpy over there, so I think I'm about done.
It makes me more concerned because I just keep wondering how we can all live together. It doesn't seem possible, from both sides.

The majority of Libbers I have met--actually seen and heard--bring to mind a female equivalent of the guy who can't make out in a cathouse with a $100 bill.

A loser is a loser is a loser.

Yea, dastardly!

Hey, is it okay if I just lurk around this thread and read what you guys and gals have to say about the sex forum over there. I really don't want to go back.

And I thought I was a perverted freak. God It's nice to feel normal after reading that Gyno-mobile thread. LOL. I'll have to show that to my girlfriend. :D

One woman got all in a snit and actually said she'd hate to be associated with one of our Australian friends because he dared to use the "C word" (in his defense, the level of profane and obscene speech over there is weird--I've noticed myself doing it more too.)

But when a nice young feminist posted in their "one-night stand" thread what a great time she had cheating on her fiance and how she saw no need to tell him because it would just hurt the relationship, not a peep.

When I asked, they told me feminism doesn't have a position on infidelity and it's a "personal choice which no feminist would think to question." Excuse me, but I didn't know there had to be an official feminist position on an issue for a feminist to comment on it, and I wasn't aware that personal choices posted on discussion boards remained personal!

Obviously obscene language, if it contradicts feminism, is a serious enough matter to cut off association from the offender--but a betrayal of trust, if it's of the sort not addressed by feminism, is really no big deal unless the offender, personally, feels it is.

But I'm trying.

After you've read the Gyno-mobile thread, then go over to the porn threads and read all about how Playboy forces men to "objectify" women.
HA!

Well, i'm one of the pro's 'overthere' that doesn't list my email, and i don't have a homepage just now.

I still remember reading the post from a over on Ms. poseing the question, "... are any of you attorneys, not that being a lawyer is required..." And then went on to condenm 'strict constructionism'

It's been my experiance that the typical response to an opposing view is to call it anti-feminist and then burn it in effigy.

They clearly don't care a whink (pun intended) for statistics, traceable fact, or historical presidence, but as soon as you start throughing around terms like racism, sexism, or communism/marxism/socialism many of them start to pay attention.

TFL has been mentioned many times over on MS. and it should be taken as fact that some of their members, esp. Ann Marie - Editor Extrodinare, do lurk here from time to time. Though i suspect they'd never admit it.

AND NO, i don't lurk on the "Sex and Stuff" board overthere... I really really don't need to get into that stuff, Ms. USP would kill me! :)

On another board (a writers' board; I've since found I'm not the only gunner, just the only one stupid enough to stand up and be counted) we had a hell of a discussion. The thing I think really quieted it down was that yesterday some guy posted one of those "Don, I really respect you...blah blah....if all gun owners were like...blah blah--hell, you all know this drill, you've heard it before, right?

Anyway, then came the inevitable "BUT" and he then told me that the part I was missing was that except for "paranoid crazies and manipulative conservative politicians who are twisting the Amendment to their own ends," everyone knows that "absolutely NO serious Constitutional scholars support an individual-rights interpretation."

Well, I can't resist those softball setups, so I replied:

"I am a serious scholar of the Constitution, and I say it. But I suppose you meant to say "prestigious" rather than serious, right? Only prestigious scholars count, after all.

So can you name a Constitutional scholar more prestigious OR more serious than Laurence Tribe, who made headlines (and, ironically enough, attracted some death threats) when he reversed his earlier positions to state in his new edition that the 2nd endorses an individual right?"

I then took the opportunity to post quotes from some REAL Constitutional scholars--Jefferson, Madison, Mason, Washington.

Ever since, the conversation has taken a much quieter, more jocular tone. I may be nuts, but I think I came as close to "winning" as was possible.

Yeah, I think I'm definitely having some impact over there. Here's what MaskofZero posted in reply:

Gwinny:

I have a great idea for you to obtain expert testimpony regarding the gun-control issue. Pick someone you truly love. Kiss them tenderly on the forehead. Then shoot them in the stomach. While they thrash about on the ground, crying out in pain and shock, try to convince them that Thomas Jefferson is on your side. If they agree with you, then big guy, I gotta admit defeat. Expert testimony is expert testimony after all.

Heh, now there's a strategy. However, I am currently trying to get along with Michelle and the last thing I need is some scatterbrain leftists import from Ms. Forum. Maybe someday I would looks for dates at the smallbore shooting competitions or ISPC...ought to find a nice girl or two there.

Don,
"Mask of Zero" apparently defines her well... ;)

Stick it to 'em! RKBA!

I don't even know what to say I am laughing so hard. Between sensop and the sex threads and that intelligent comment by Mask of Zero my ribs are hurting.

I have noticed the terminology as well and for feminists they are not very 'lady like'. I am not one to talk ;) but I sure wouldn't post stuff like that in public, kind of damages the other forums.

Hope your learning there Don LOL! That forum is a cheaper version of the 900 numbers :D
Oops sorry sensop ! I like that little guy!
