Teaching Grandson to Shoot - Caliber Progression

I fired 30-06 when I was about 10. I developed a flinch that took years to overcome. A little food for thought.
As far as safety is concerned I just put one round in the gun with my kids. They all started young (6/7), even though I teach safety first its no place for a mistake. Younger ones (and older ones) make mistakes.

Started both boys with 22LR. The younger one a single shot. The older one a bolt action.

Then moved both to single action 22LR revolver....double action 22LR revolver...back to single action 22 Mag revolver...then to 38 Special revolver in SA, then DA....they've stopped at 9mm semi-auto - for now. Oh, they're 10 & 13.
